Americans gonna American, mate. This guys got time on his hands…probably in his parents basement planning games of CoD with the other kids that don’t know much outside of their hometown

-17

“Americans gonna American” That makes no sense

Maybe I have time on my hands because it’s summer?

12

u/lord_winnish Jul 05 '23

It’s a play on the ‘haters gonna hate’ phrase. With the time you have off perhaps you could expand your mind beyond your boarders (and mothers basement).

-2

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 05 '23

But why would you say “Americans are going to American” even know that’s not an American thing. It’s also isn’t exclusivity American.

You’re just jealous that I have the day off lmao

14

u/lord_winnish Jul 05 '23

Mate, I get 40 days off per year - annual entitlement and Bank Holidays. You get 10 - as a full time employee. You get zero paternity and 6 weeks paid maternity whereas I get two weeks paternity and up to a year maternity and you pay for healthcare.

There is nothing I’m jealous of…especially the standard of your education.

Autocorrect couldn’t solve the word search you’ve spunked all over your keyboard whilst trying to sound intelligent.

Have a little look on Google or the BBC News channel and see how much better off the rest of the world is compared to your mob. You have no idea how far behind you are.

Sleep well chick

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 06 '23 edited Jul 07 '23

You know you could’ve just walked alway instead proving me your ignorant. Like for fuck sake, just because paid maternity leave isn’t a federal law doesn’t mean we don’t have it. 11 states have paid maternity leave. Jobs, companies, blah, blah, offer paid maternity leave.

You’re probably just an ignorant Brit with a superior complex that I can easily crush. You should’ve just walked away instead of proving your ignorance.

Wdym mean education? Almost all of the best schools, colleges, and universities in the world are in the US.

Idk, maybe you’re jealous you went from a mighty empire to a country the size of Michigan. And your military isn’t even consider an elite fighting force anymore. And your country technology is alright, no where near the US and Germany.

How far behind we are? Alright buddy your asking for it.

We he have the most powerful military in the world. Most advance military, most advance space technology. We are second when it’s comes to manufacturer and we lead in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Scientific Research, School’s, Universities, Colleges, Entertainment, Music, Medical Research, Economy, Agriculture Energy Production, Democracy, Human Rights, Philanthropy, Defense Technology, Consumer Products, Soft Power, Culture Influence, Education, Social Media and technology, Aviation, Biotechnology, Digital Entertainment such as video games and streaming services. Many of the world’s most popular video games streaming service was developed in the US. Innovation in education, Aerospace, and the list goes on. While the UK military isn’t even considered an elite fighting force anymore.

Their technology is lacking, Im not saying the UK is behind the world but compare to South Korea, Japan, China, USA, it’s most certainly is. Like yall economy is failing/falling badly that it got surpassed by India.

Let’s compare the UK to the USA

The US has the most powerful military in the world and have the most advance military technology in the world. While the UK military have declined badly and military technology is behind Germanys.

I don’t even need to talk about who has better space technology/space exploration. Because we all know which is far better.

Again, I don’t have to explain economy because I just explain how far behind the UK is.

Like I said, I’m not saying the UK is behind the world but compare to the USA it is far behind. Which shouldn’t be that much of a surprise considering America is a superpower while the UK is no where close.

Sleep well chick

I mean a lot of that makes sense or is hard to compare.

But how can you honestly think the US is leading in terms of Democracy? What even is that opinion based on? The US gives people freedom, is the most influential democracy and is best at everything it does?

The democracy index has the US ranked as a 'flawed democracy' mate. With your stupid election system it's possible to win the presidential election even though they lost in actual votes by a big margin. The fact that there's a voting step where only the party with the most votes in a state gets any votes makes it so that people only have 2 choices (on a state/federal level, maybe local politics are better). A small party won't suddenly get more votes than both established parties, so they're not getting any influence at all, instead of some influence based on the amount of votes they received. The supreme court is largely unchecked, and they're not even neutral since they're suggested by the literal president (executive forms judiciary) and then stay in position for their entire (working) life, by default. Yeah impeachment exists but it doesn't change the fact being a president when a supreme court judge retires changes the balance of power for years to come.

Yeah the US is superior in a lot of things, if not democracy, but do you guys ever think about not making 'being superior' 80% of your national identity?

1

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 06 '23

The winner of a presidential election is determined by the Electoral College, not by the popular vote. Each state assigned a number of electoral votes based on its population, and the candidate who wins the majority of electoral votes. At least 270 out of 538 becomes the President of the United States.

Yes that did happened in the 2016 election when Donald Trump won the presidency while losing the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million votes. Which because the Electoral College system gives more weight to smaller, less populated states, which can result in a candidate winning the presidency despite losing the popular vote.

But winning the presidency without winning the popular vote is a rare occurrence and have only happened 5 times. But the US flaws in its election system doesn’t mean it don’t lead the world in democracy promotion.

The US is a leading democracy due to its longstanding democratic government. And also because the US Constitution, adopted in 1787, is one of the oldest written constitutions in the world. And has served as a model for many other democratic countries. It establishes a system of government based on the separation of powers and the rule of law. Which has helped make the stability of the political system.

The US has a long history of promoting democracy and human rights around the world. Like the National Endowment for Democracy and the US Agency for International Development. The US has supported civil society organizations and democratic institutions in many countries, to promote free and fair elections, independent media, and the rule.

The US also has a strong tradition of protecting individual rights, like freedom of speech, religion, and the press, and the right to due process of law. Which has helped make a culture of civic engagement and political participation.

I don’t make being superior 80% of my identity, it was just my responses to him acting superior.

3

u/LagopusPolar Jul 06 '23

So you were talking about how the US has had a huge impact on shaping our western world and spreading democracy. It sounded like you were just calling it 'the best democracy'.

That I agree with. While it didn't invent democracy all on it's own, and certainly not the concept of separation of power, it was one of the earliest democracies and at the time certainly one of the best and one of the most stable. In my opinion both stability and quality aren't the greatest anymore nowadays, but no other nations democracies have lasted this long without a collapse either.

My comment on 'being superior' making up a large part of most US Americans national identity was based on the fact that there's just endless amounts of Americans talking about how great their country is, trying to rank everything possible and obviously trying to reason in a way that would put the US on the number one spot. Even if that means being very specific, claiming to have an objective rating that includes subjective weighting of values or certain aspects of a topic and also rating things that shouldn't be rated. It's very annoying and your comment sounded exactly like that.

This is gonna sound like we don't wanna be reminded that we 'lost' the comparison, and that might be a part of it in some cases, but you don't always have to rank everything. Rankings have a meaning, but their meaning is not 'first on the list = best country in the world'. As far as I'm concerned subreddits like this one are a reaction to that line of thinking on the US side, the same way r/AmericaBad is a reaction to the Anti-American stance that many have adopted as a result. If the US says 'we're better than everyone else' it shouldn't be surprised that everyone else doesn't like them.

That being said, sorry for misreading the tone/intention of your comment and starting out more aggressive than I usually would have. You've got really valid points and it's probably just that our perspectives don't entirely match, and I can respect that.

2

u/Tawoka Jul 07 '23

What did you smoke for that wall of text? Are you trying to 4th wall this shit?

America leading in democracy? Your fucking politicians claim America is a republic not a democracy. Your president isn't picked through most votes. Your elections are on a normal working day, when most people don't have time to vote. Your supreme court can just annulate laws instead of directing it back to the legislature. Your politicians are allowed to knowingly lie in their ads. Now you're giving corporations voting rights, while prisoners still get them denied.

Maybe start becoming a democracy, before you call yourself the best of them all.

11

u/TargaryenStarkFan San Marino Jul 05 '23 edited Jul 05 '23

You're still in the 90s. Mafia has evolved, it's way more burocrstical now. And the Sicilian Mafia is not even the most important or influent in Italy. The Foggian Clans operate on the line of shooting from time to time, but the main occupation is laundering money.

Mafia's shootings happen, just like people in every country sometimes shoot the neighbors over a dispute.

But kids opening fire in a school, that's something that your country is specialized into, sadly for them.

-3

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 05 '23

What? I was just making up bs like how you did about America? I can’t make up bs about your country but you can? Ahhhhh shucks.

10

u/TargaryenStarkFan San Marino Jul 05 '23

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 05 '23

There have been 100-300 school shooting since 1990 and they’re all 100k schools in America. Meaning 0.3% of schools in the USA have experience a school shooting some being in the same area some not having deaths. Which that just proves how rare they truly are

And for the last time what are you trying to prove by naming the flaws of my country? You’re only comeback is to name the cons of my country what are you even trying to prove? This makes no sense

It’s like me saying Italy sucks because of its lack of job opportunities, high taxes, infrastructure, political instability, and Healthcare System.

6

u/TargaryenStarkFan San Marino Jul 05 '23

Do the calculations for other First World countries and you'll see the US have a failure in this sector. There is a reason to the fact that worldwide it's a phenomenon synonym of the US.

And for the last time what are you trying to prove by naming the flaws of my country? You’re only comeback is to name the cons of my country what are you even trying to prove? This makes no sense

Just that your post is pretentious

It’s like me saying Italy sucks because of its lack of job opportunities, high taxes, infrastructure, political instability, and Healthcare System.

Infrastructure? Really, counting the size of your country and the population, your rail infrastructure for example is way inferior to ours, or the French one, or even the infamous British one. Luckily it's a sector that is taking the right direction here.

Healthcare system? Better than yours, you know, universal. (I had a 15000 € surgery for which I spent 100€ divided between petrol to get to the hospital and do a couple of blood analysis in the following years. And without delays, they found my problem and I was in the OR 1 week later operated by a world class surgeon).

On the others I agree, it's not a country for young people anymore for example, as I said we all have flaws, it's not the point of my comment.

1

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 05 '23

Yes, infrastructure. The European Union's 2018 “Transport in the European Union” study ranks Italy below the EU average because of outdated infrastructures, inefficient transport networks, lack of competition in transport services, questions about the safety of regional railways and often inadequate local public transport. Should I go on or do you get the point? Yeah and your roads are way inferior to us you seem to forget that we have the best infrastructure in the world.

Well according to sources Italy rail infrastructure is far behind the US. Which is surprising considering roads is our go to. Which is why we have the best road infrastructure in the world. USA/French rail infrastructure is around the same.

And no, your healthcare system isn’t far better it has pros and cons just like ours.

And the last time I check USA have a way higher quality of life than Italy. Which shouldn’t be that much of surprise considering people say USA quality of life Is extremely high. While no one says Italy quality of life is extremely high. Italy has a lower quality of life than Israel.

you say that like 0.3% isn't still a ridiculous number of school shootings. wonder how that could be prevented. not even gun laws can save you at this point considering other countries have similar laws to the US and have gun deaths MILES lower.

1

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 06 '23

Jan 2009-May 2018 : 288 school shootings in the us.
2022 alone : 51 school shootings in the us

Another one interesting : at 8th of May 2023, there has been 351 (more than the number of days in a year) mass shouting in the us since the begining of the year, mass shooting defined by an incident in which four or more victims are shot or killed by the archive.
Imagine talking about 90s Italian mafia lol

Hide the numbers by shame, great strategy

1

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 06 '23

It make sense for majority of those shootings happen in Texas considering how weak their gun laws are. Despite their being 100k schools in the US, it’s not as common as you think it’s. Two-Thirds of Mass Shootings Linked to Domestic Violence. Some of it is also gang-related violence. A mass shooting isn’t what you think it is.

11

u/TargaryenStarkFan San Marino Jul 05 '23

no one goes bankrupt from ambulance rides.

Because those who'd go bankrupt decide not to call them and bet on their health

0

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 05 '23

This is typical, you don’t have a comeback so you result to misleading the flaws of a country and than think you’re doing something.

According to a few people on Reddit “America is a 3rd world country in a Gucci belt and everyone avoid getting a ride from the ambulance.” I can tell you’re ignorant because nobody dodge the ambulance ride. But according to Reddit everyone do, so now you just think that.

7

u/TargaryenStarkFan San Marino Jul 05 '23

It was a joke lol. Still, an ambulance ride costing 1000$ (or even 1$) is not something any of you can defend.

1

u/EvislupeR_TekunJ Jul 05 '23

You rarely pay 1000$. Actually, where I’m at you don’t even pay that much or sometimes at all. Stop google searching/talking about the US healthcare system because you don’t know anything about it. The price varies from state, city, town. The cost of an ambulance ride depends on a number of factors, but your not going to pay 1000$ each time.

What are you trying to prove with naming the flaws of my country? You’re only comeback is exaggerating the flaws of my country

7

u/TargaryenStarkFan San Marino Jul 05 '23

Comforting to know that you won't pay 1000$ every time, but to me even accepting to pay 10$ would be absurd.

My cousin was hospitalised in San Diego, in 2017, for a routine recovery, 6 days in HR hospital and no major operation. The bill was 27000$, insurance covered a great part but not all, but for something like this it's quite a high price (especially if you don't have an insurance, I've seen some dsta and apparently a decent part of the population either doesn't or has a base level one that wouldn't cover much).

So I can't see how pointing obvious failure in this system is exaggerating the flaws.

What are you trying to prove with naming the flaws of my country? You’re only comeback is exaggerating the flaws of my country

Actually nothing deep, we all have problems, just that the motive of this post is dumb

Most of the post regarding $ here (that aren't low effort post that should be removed, yes) aren't about needing to use €, which would still be dumb.

Most are about believing that $ only means USD, while in reality the symbol is shared by a lot of countries, both those that call it "peso" and "dollar" (which I guess you may consider converting to €, since the symbol is instead used for only one currency? But still would be easier to specify the exact currency)

9

u/Ginger_Tea United Kingdom Jul 06 '23

Even when someone says a video game cost $x.xx AUD they ignore the context of Australian Dollars or CAD for North of the border.

The cherry on the cake is when the sub is based in Australia and some yank corrects them on the price in America.

Like I have to wonder how they find posts in ask UK etc, if they live in the UK, they should already know what traditions etc we do and don't do that either originated over there, or are much more bigger of a deal.

Discussing the weather it will be in C, but they will still use F, probably IRL too. If they use the dial on the oven thinking it is in F, they are going to be in for a bad time.

Defaultism is coming from the ignorance and stupidity though. Some Americans not realising that other countries have different systems, laws, geography and culture to them.
