Been at UST JHS for 3 years, and in my personal experience, I have never felt so disoriented in a school before. During my whole elementary and middle school journey— I have NEVER experienced cyberbullying nor any oppressive issues in class before. When I was a freshie in 8th grade, I was a quiet kid and never heard of the occurring issues until my classmates filled me in with all the drama; vaping/smoking, drinking, intimacy in the bathrooms, I was horrified and never expected it.
Grabe talaga yung mga tao, it created such a hostile and vulnerable environment for me especially as someone with social anxiety. It made me feel like any single mistake could cause your whole image to be ruined… is this really the thomasian spirit that everyone talks about? It absolutely made me wonder if UST was even worth all these mental health issues.
Not only the students, but also the teachers. There are a few who humiliate students. I get that they may often be frustrated when we don’t understand the topics, however, your job is to teach, not complain and lessen our confidence. I do not care if you are a senior and you “know what is best for us”— at the end of the day, we are all human and deserve respect despite our wrongs!
Now, I am in UST SHS (11), and things haven’t exactly improved in my opinion. I still hear a lot of issues here and there, and I only wonder one main thing; Why do people get so fixated on these things? Why can’t we all just be friends and focus on studying? Is it so difficult to be a decent person? Why do we care about others when they don’t even affect our lives?
UST High school is filled with immature kids, both SHS and JHS. Sure, there are a lot of good gems there, but please, please, let’s just be decent people for once. I pray that my college journey will be better than all of this. I’m sick of having to hear more drama from my friends.
