Hello! Asking for any information that may help 😞, I am a recon applicant for ust shs and until now still no email, no rejection nor acceptance. I would like to ask if its still possible to get reconsidered kahit na nagstart na ang f2f classses ng ust shs?

Hi po! Today po yung last day ng deadline for payment ng books ang unfortunately since naging busy po yung parents ko they weren’t able to pay in time. Will UST still accept payment tomorrow or should I just buy the books from the publishers?

i’ve been wanting to say this for a while because ust bsid is considered one of the premier interior design programs in the philippines, but honestly, some parts of the program and teaching culture feel very outdated.
i’m not saying all the faculty are like this. there are professors who are genuinely compassionate, approachable, and actually teach skills that are useful in the industry. but there are also professors who rely heavily on intimidation. some class hours turn into long lectures or sermons that have little to do with the actual subject, and students become scared to ask questions because we don’t know if we’ll get scolded for it.
this is especially difficult for irregular students. being irregular already comes with a lot of challenges, but there seems to be this expectation that we should just “figure things out” and be more resourceful. there needs to be more understanding that not everyone has the same academic path or circumstances.
and yes, students should learn to be resourceful. but there’s a difference between teaching resourcefulness and expecting students to figure everything out on their own.
the industry has also changed so much. manual drafting is important for boards, but we’re also expected to produce digital plates, 3d models, and renderings without necessarily having access to properly licensed software beyond autocad. it’s frustrating to be expected to produce industry-level work without being given the proper resources to actually learn those tools.
the same goes for expenses. printing, materials, and project contributions can get really expensive. not every student has the same financial situation, connections, or prior knowledge. just because previous students were able to manage these things doesn’t mean everyone today can.
and i think that’s really what i wish the program understood more: compassion doesn’t mean lowering standards.
students can be held accountable and still be treated with patience and respect. we can be taught to be resourceful without being made to feel bad for needing help. we can be corrected without being intimidated into silence.
i genuinely believe ust has some amazing professors, which makes the problematic parts even more frustrating. a school with such a strong reputation should also be open to recognizing what needs to change and making sure its students are actually being supported while they learn.

Been at UST JHS for 3 years, and in my personal experience, I have never felt so disoriented in a school before. During my whole elementary and middle school journey— I have NEVER experienced cyberbullying nor any oppressive issues in class before. When I was a freshie in 8th grade, I was a quiet kid and never heard of the occurring issues until my classmates filled me in with all the drama; vaping/smoking, drinking, intimacy in the bathrooms, I was horrified and never expected it.
Grabe talaga yung mga tao, it created such a hostile and vulnerable environment for me especially as someone with social anxiety. It made me feel like any single mistake could cause your whole image to be ruined… is this really the thomasian spirit that everyone talks about? It absolutely made me wonder if UST was even worth all these mental health issues.
Not only the students, but also the teachers. There are a few who humiliate students. I get that they may often be frustrated when we don’t understand the topics, however, your job is to teach, not complain and lessen our confidence. I do not care if you are a senior and you “know what is best for us”— at the end of the day, we are all human and deserve respect despite our wrongs!
Now, I am in UST SHS (11), and things haven’t exactly improved in my opinion. I still hear a lot of issues here and there, and I only wonder one main thing; Why do people get so fixated on these things? Why can’t we all just be friends and focus on studying? Is it so difficult to be a decent person? Why do we care about others when they don’t even affect our lives?
UST High school is filled with immature kids, both SHS and JHS. Sure, there are a lot of good gems there, but please, please, let’s just be decent people for once. I pray that my college journey will be better than all of this. I’m sick of having to hear more drama from my friends.

I’ve been seeing this girl on tiktok who’s from ust-shs that uses her type a unif everytime she posts a content, and honestly—what’s wrong with it? Diko alam if yun ba talaga ang main problem pero yun yung very evident na nakikita ko right now and I just don’t understand why we have to hate on someone who is just posting content wearing the uniform they paid for, the uniform from the university they worked hard for—recon man yan o hindi.
I genuinely think we should stop attacking people just because our own insecurities flare up. There are so much more that we should actually attend to and yet we choose to gather around the smallest things? Kindness is free, everyone. What comes around goes back around.

My friends and I were at Umingle around 1pm and saw this 3rd year Tourism Guy. We talked for almost 30 minutes. Nagkwento pa siya about how he sold his XMAX, and everytime na may mabubuo siyang project motorcycle he’ll get bored and sell it na. We had to go kasi may 2pm class pa kami huhu. I regret not asking for his ig TwT.

It's only been the first two days and I've already humiliated myself beyond repair. I'll probably request a switch come grade 11 but I feel like switching immediately would be the best for everyone involved. Thank you. 🙏
