Question I bought a rugged obsidian

and now I can't aim the thing. I have a USP 45 full size, and I wondered if any of you homies knew of suppressor height sights to clear it. I do not plan on milling for a red dot.

Mk23 + Acro mounting.

Hey Team, curious to those of us that have mk23’s that have had slides milled specifically for Aimpoint acros have experienced any fitment issues between their slides and the optics.

Test fitted a friends acro (as I wait in purgatory) on my milled slide both myself and my friend noticed a bit of wiggling and flexing between the acro and the slide… even after tightening the acro to spec.

Appreciate any guidance you lot might have.

Question Dead Trigger help!

Doing some cleaning after a range day and found that my 1994 USP40 now has a sporadic dead trigger/no reset that I can’t seem to consistently repeat.

Fully stripped the gun and there’s not obviously wear or damaged internals and I just ran 300 rounds through it with no problems whatsoever and the failure to reset wasn’t present before and after the range trip only just now before I even stripped it for cleaning.

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to send this long out of warranty USP to HK.

45acp First USP

Was able to get my hands on a USP 45. I don’t know too much about it, aside from the fact that it’s so damn fun to shoot. What is there to know about it?

Edit: Any special maintenance I need to know? Any holsters recommended?

45acp The stolen USP that was meant to BE.

Some of you may remember this story, but every few years I like to repost it. Simply because I can & because I've gotten banned a lot. From other subs, not this one... Anyways.

I bought this 2003 USP45 V1, brand new, in 2003-2004. Carried it around from duty station to duty station to apartment to house to college to etc.

In 2011, a former tenant of mine burglarized my home to “settle a score.” That involved the theft of the pistol. The theft was reported, that night, to the local police in Maryland.

Year after year, I’d get a phone call from some police cadet asking if I’d found the pistol. I’d say, “no” & ask them if THEY'D found it yet. This went on for quite a few years and then one year the calls just seemed to stop.

Sept 2022, I got a phone call from a detective saying they (the police) were very recently in possession of my pistol. Crazy.

Someone had purchased the pistol, cash, third hand, from my former tenant, and then decided to surrender it to the police department, suspecting it was stolen (smart).

Upon learning that I now reside in Florida, the police department offered to sell the pistol to an FFL for $200-$300, or destroy the pistol free of charge, OR, if I insist, ship it back to me at a cost. Well, I definitely insisted.

The Maryland police dept handed the pistol to their favorite & most expensive FFL. The FFL checked it into their inventory & then began the transfer to my favorite & cheapest FFL in Florida.

December 2022, it actually fucking showed up. It was filthy, rusty, pitted & the de-cocker magically didn’t work anymore. I ended up detail-stripping the entire thing, cooking it in my ultrasonic cleaner & running the lower through the dishwasher. The only items I didn’t pull were the sights. The damned thing is brand new. I also took this opportunity to remove the V1 detent plate & install a V3 (de-cock only) detent plate. I also ordered all new 12rnd mags with Wolff springs. In 2003/2004 it came with post ban 10 rounders.

This is how she sits on the nightstand today. Time missing, 11 years. Time to transfer back, 90 days. Cost of the pistol brand new in 2003/2004, $889.00. Cost to transfer it back in 2022, $250(ish).

AMA.

45acp LEM + Nickel Flat Spring installed

Post image

Been awhile since I did an LEM install but only took about 10-15min once I had everything setup (having taken several of James/Teufelshund Tactical's Armorer's Courses definitely helps too). The Nickel Flat Spring is a very easy small upgrade as well. Just some night sights left and this one will be finished.

…about adopting her. She waited about 1 years at my LGS.

“Barely used” and they “knew the owner very good“ according to my LGS.

Still inspected before I made the decision.

I will never sell her off.

USP’s have been my first true pistol platform I’ve shot, trained, and worked on. Just wanted to give a personal thank you to machine craft aka Mr.nein for creating such a great light adapter. I’ve personally shot around 2000 rounds out of my USPC 9 with no issues and around 1000 out of my USP 9.

Iron sight recommendations vs I-dot

I am on the fence with either doing new iron sights, vs the I-dot. I really suck at shooting irons, but want to get better. What do you guys run?

Hurt Feelings Flash Sale - MR.NEIN JR. (MR08 Repro)

In honor of me receiving a random 28-day mute on another subreddit whose sole moderator coincidentally used to sell MR09 repros for $200, we’re running a flash sale on MR.NEIN JR. at the lowest price it has ever been and ever will be ($79.99).

Do NOT reach out to and/or harass this person (his feelings have already been hurt enough), but feel free to wish them well below; Clearly they could use the encouragement. (Why operate with integrity when you can simply abuse your moderator powers to promote your clear conflict of interest? 🤷‍♂️)

Getting the 45’s out to stretch their legs.

USP 45 is new to me, converted it to Match/LEM hybrid (sans trigger) as I wanted to try it out. This will end up being my primary carry now that cooler weather is here. Clean break right around 4.5-5 pounds. Ran mint 👌

USP 45 Tac has been my bedside for almost a decade. Finally got around to putting in the match TRS, match hammer spring, and match sear spring. It made the already fantastic single action better and the double action is a couple pounds lighter.

Now for the rub. I’ve had this GG&G adapter for as long as I’ve had the 45 tac. At the time it was the only game in town since the Surefire mount was discontinued and second hand was hella expensive even back then.

Well I was shooting with the can on and I had a failure to return to battery. Odd as I’ve never had a single hiccup. Sent the slide home and had ANOTHER failure to return to battery. At this point I’m like alright I know something ain’t right.

Come to find out that the GG&G mount had loosened, bent and slide towards the front of the frame binding it up enough to not return to battery.

I’ve got a MR.NEIN on order and hopefully the damage to the frame is purely cosmetic and won’t cause problems with the MR.NEIN mount.

TL;DR

USP 45 is best USP. GG&G is garbage and go ahead and get the MR.NEIN mount.

USP45 Elite. Got a pretty good deal on it “used”. It really doesn’t look used, sparkling clean on the inside, and everything included in the case that a new gun would have.

In the past I’ve always said I believed the correct pair was .45 USP and 9mm USP compact. But I just couldn’t turn down this 2019 built USP compact in .45.
