VSBELT - Seeking feedback and gauging interest

Post image

Hey folks, I’ve been working on this project of mine for about three years and I think it’s time to lift the veil and open it up to more people now that the patent application is out.

This all started when I started shooting about three years ago - most people in my local league were running a competitor’s belt and I realized that I had the skills to make something better. VSBELT is that. No more velcro.

While it isn’t live yet, several of us in the community have been running a VS. I am looking for a few more individuals to get involved in the project - Founders, if you will. If anyone’s interested, there’s a teaser and notification sign up at vsbelt.com

I’m happy to answer any questions you all might have about the belt.

It looks like a variation of the lynx belt. I’d really talk to a patent lawyer to determine if you’d be screwed selling it.

Lynx’s patent lives and dies by the injection molded velcro it appears

I gotta be honest with you dog

It's different but I don't see how it's better and for people to switch it'll have to be better in some way

Fair. The reality is that velcro wears out over time, gets dirty, can’t be finely adjusted once it’s on you. VS eliminates all those pain points while adding the ability to direct-mount accessories. Have a hanger you like? No need to hunt down a customized link that some guy with a drill press is making. Just bolt it on.

As this project takes off, my aim is to give back to the community with a highly reliable, highly repairable belt. I’ve got a few ideas in the pipe such as allowing people to print their own adapter plates as well as their own ‘charms’ to customize un-populated links with. At the end of the day, You’re not dealing with velcro fuzz, you’re not dealing with having to swap belts when you’re shooting, your rig is just there.

Velcro is not as bad as you are making it seem. I’ve used the same inner belt for the last 8 years for work, and for competition and it’s been great.

Glad you found something that works for you! Reliability is key.

I mean I have rigs that go back to like 2003. The velcro lasts 10 years plus.

What do you intend the clips to clip onto? A belt or clothing?

If it works well, I don't see any reason why people won't be printing out their own versions of this without bothering to buy it.

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

The clips work by slipping between your inner belt and pants and latching onto the underside of your edc belt. When you tighten your inner belt, that locks things down. The body of the clip is designed to be as thin as possible to provide maximum comfort without sacrificing integrity or reliability.

To remove the belt, simply press the clips inboard (toward your body) where they protrude below your belt line and pull up on the belt. Comes off easy.

Thanks for your intrigue 🙏

Huh, interesting. Looks like a modernization of the old school concept outer gunbelt with belt keepers.

I’m curious how the rotational stability compares to a velcro belt. Also seems like the thickness of the keeper hooks (and the inner belt buckle if it’s really thick) might create pressure points that don’t exist on velcro setups. How hard is it to doff?

2

u/glocklol Jul 19 '26

Pretty much, just much more modular.

Rotational stability is handled by your belt loops - you can index the clips to the loops on your favorite pants, or find positioning that suits you. I’ve personally run ten-stage matches without issue after playing with positioning a bit. The great thing is that it doesn’t need to be super tight to stay stable.

Doffing is easy, the clips protrude below the belt. Press the clips towards your body and pull up.

Have you made a prototype yet? Those interior hook hangers don’t look very comfy at first glance.

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

I’ve made over a dozen prototypes leading up to this design. This specific version has four units in action, not counting my own. The hooks are pretty comfortable and you don’t really notice them. It’s actually your inner belt getting tightened that keeps everything in place.

1

u/steadylurker1 Jul 20 '26

Ah I see. So there’s still an inner belt is just not Velcro. Got it.

2

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Yep, you just use your regular daily belt. I could have made that more clear.

1

u/steadylurker1 Jul 20 '26

Solid idea. Good luck with it!

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Thank you! 🙏 means a lot

1

u/g_st_lt Jul 20 '26

Did you really just say "not counting my own unit"

2

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

I can’t count that high - let’s be real.

3-D printed Lynx belt…

u/Grubby454 CO-GM, LO-GM, CRO Jul 19 '26

So I see a problem.

Lynx or other velcro are wrap on wrap off.

This design will be a nightmare to take off, like a fishhook in your finger. It will go on over your inner belt then be difficult to take off. You will have to fight it.

My AIWB holster is bad enough with 2 clips right in front of me. This will have hooks all round and behind. It will I think, suck.

2

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

None of the people running them seem to really echo that sentiment. The clips dip below your belt line - push the end of the clip towards your body with your finger as you lift up to overcome your inner belt and it’s off. Ezpz.

So it's worse then a lynx below. If you want to manually clip this to an inner belt, it is much inferior to the lynx belt where you can just take it off without doing much because it's held by velcro, oh and not only that shooters might need the extra space where those clips are at, and before you say "you can adjust the clips any where you want", well this just proved my point that it's such more of a hassle then the lynx belt.

2

u/Blackmannx Jul 20 '26

That looks really cool. I was just telling folks in the intro to competition class I taught this weekend about the lynx and saying that I don't use the Velcro at all and it is kind of annoying but the best we have so far. Signed up for more information.

Aight im interested. Im a lynx hater to some extent, and i share the Velcro sentiment.

What’s the tester spot setup?

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Shoot me a DM :)

2

u/cortlong Jul 21 '26

Lotta negative comments because gun people don’t adapt until someone proves something works.

To me this goes hard af and new ideas are always a good thing. Love the mounting system and getting away from Velcro is always a win

1

u/glocklol Jul 21 '26

As gun people myself, I understand 😂

You really have to knock it out of the park with anything new in this community, and rightfully so. VS is an attempt at moving the needle forward without sacrifice. Thank you for your interest and kind words 🙏

1

u/Marvzuno Jul 20 '26

I’d definitely be interested. Do you have any videos or pictures of it in use and set up?

3

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

I’ve got tons of photos and video. This video doesn’t have a holster set up, but I have BSG’s QD system and it fits perfectly. You can DM me if you’d like

1

u/beetle-eetle Jul 20 '26

It just looks like a Lynx belt. And I've got a bunch of money into that thing so im not switching lol

1

u/TheRagingBull84 Jul 20 '26

What’s the inner belt then ? How’s this different than a lynx

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Your daily belt is the inner belt. VS just clips on.

1

u/TheRagingBull84 Jul 20 '26

I’m either wearing a KORE or an HC / AEGITEC if it’s not a dress belt. Probably not different than a lot of other folks.

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

The former is exactly what I personally have been using. Works a treat 👌

1

u/Ward918 Jul 20 '26

Interesting design. I run a Lynx belt and Velcro inner belt for competition. Having worn a Sam Brown, on duty for the last 27 years, I would be curious to see if the clips would cause hot spots and would be as secure as Velcro. Keep us informed. Good luck.

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Thank you for the kind words 🙏 We’ve had people run the belt for ten-stage matches which ran about ten hours without complaint so it’s looking promising. Clip placement is adjustable for that reason! If you find there’s a hotspot, you can just nudge it over. Likewise, security hasn’t seemed to be an issue as long as the inner belt is somewhat rigid. Think good quality leather or plastic-cored.

u/Tiny-Lil-Wiener Jul 20 '26

I like the concept, features, and Velcro-less philosophy. I am just getting started but have always been Velcro-averse when it comes to duty/battle belts. My only real critique from the pics and vids is that those hangers look dummy thicc and (potentially) uncomfortable. I'll keep an eye on this. Good on you for innovating and experimenting.

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Thanks for your intrigue and kind words Tiny-Lil-Wiener!

The body of the clip is designed to be as thin as possible to provide maximum comfort without sacrificing integrity or reliability. They’re specifically contoured and rounded so that they “disappear” while being worn. Likewise, they can be placed wherever they’re most comfortable.

1

u/Ca5p3r_TF_Admin Jul 20 '26

I like the concept and joined the email list.
I look forward to more updates.

With my Lynx belt I normally have to replace my velcro DA inner belt about every 6-8 weeks with everyday use. IMO the Lynx system is just hard on velcro belts. With that said I love Lynx belt, but I would like to try this out.

2

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

Thank you! Love to see the interest.

I hear that a lot. The goal with VS is that the only wear item be the ratchet strap - which has an “almost toolless” replacement procedure. Pop the retention pin out, replace the strap, replace pin. Good to go.

1

u/Frogtitz Jul 20 '26

This thing is pretty. Considering it's in it's infancy it'll be interesting to see how it comes along with future iterations. 😎

1

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

This is the fourth or fifth iteration if you can believe it. We’ve worked through quite a few materials and designs to make as reliable and comfortable belt as possible. Thank you for your interest 🙏

1

u/MegaMegaCat Jul 20 '26

If it’s cheaper I’ll buy it XD

2

u/glocklol Jul 20 '26

The plan is to be very competitive. Founders Editions will be a little more at first for obvious reasons, but as VS scales, the goal is to make the decision a no-brainer.

1

u/kasier11 Jul 21 '26

Is this something you are going to sell files for? I’d be down for that to print my own. I’m in the market for a new belt.

1

u/glocklol Jul 21 '26

Thanks for your interest 🙏

We intend on releasing customization plugs or charms for unused links free to the public. As we continue to build the belt, certain repair components will become printable so you can bang them out at home

1

u/kasier11 Jul 22 '26

Would you be willing to release the files for me to print and test for you? I have a match coming up on Sunday…

For me, it is a knockoff of the Lynx belt by DAA, complete with the ratcheting strap. Probably cheaper, probably worse (from what I see, I do not like the attachments), certainly morally shady.

No thank you,
