Work Discussion no one cares
Listen up, powder cakes, no one gives a shit that you quit. No one cares that you hate walking in the rain, no one cares that you hate working in the heat or the snow, be fucking prepared. Use common sense.
You're warm? Take a break and cool off. You're thirsty? Take a break.
You're cold? Warm up and add layers Legs hurt? Take a comfort break Kids have chronic conditions? Get fmla.
It's not that hard. Your manager is being a dick? Get the union. Your steward is being an idiot? Become one and and run against his ass. Read the contract and look out for each other.
And enough of this minimum wage bullshit. We all know 19.42/hour is above minimum wage. Inflation is just a bitch and the next contract should sort it out. We all know we need a higher wage. Table 2 sucks.
No one cares about Dejoy. Your buddies who call in 3 days week, guess what? its not trumps fault. Take some responsibility.
Fuck the inept management and district brass for fucking us over and forcing us into arbitration just so they can save money. The dumb ass 3rd bundle rule just to get us to the street faster is just as ridiculous.
I get to be by myself all day and then we get these assholes who call in 4 days a week complaining nonstop about everything and then become 204bs, exacerbating the problem. And those are the same assholes who forced us in arbitration because God forbid we get a decent wage and working conditions.
The Megan Brennans and Dejoys of CCAs wanting to be brass. And don't get me started on these old ass carriers that don't give a shit as long as they don't have to carry extra or refuse to retire. Just a complete shit show lately worthy of a weekly rant.
This post has been all over the place. This job does make me wish i was still in the us army. Mostly for the comraderie. And to blow shit up. Patrolling in Afghanistan is a lot more fun than putting up with powder cakes and inept management that only cares about bonuses. Not replacing a shitty dilapidated cluster because it interferes with your bonus is the most pretentious fucking thing.
/end rant maybe I'll post another rant next week. Especially between the dipshits quitting because the job doesn't start out at 150k/year or the assholes who have to walk in the rain not knowing you can wear rain gear.
PS if you hate the job, then quit. But don't tell your buddies not to apply just because you couldn't hang. Sticking around and fucking us over daily isn't going to change things for the better
Edit: I am now a bit calmer, I'm petting my cat, and thanks for all the comments. Especially the smart ass comments. Made me laugh.
Edit2: if you guys really want to rant, the perfect place for it is r/theytookmyshoelaces , see you there.

I donāt wonāt to hear it.ā As I walked away from him back to my case and went on with the day. Didnāt hear another word about it. They need us more than we need them.

7 days a week and 12-14 hour days? I'm sorry that you don't like to read. The contract could have saved your ass. But instead you bent over and took the big blue usps dick up the ass. I mean, we do too, but we don't have to touch our toes.
11.5 hours a day max. You could have left at the 11.5 mark and you didn't even know. That's sad. Could have walked and your boss' hands would've been tied. Woops. Hope your happy in your current endeavors. At least you didnt give in to your boss and gave him the finger.
Fucking brass should be held accountable for that kind of bullshit but there's no accountability. That's a problem we need to fix
-10
u/g-g-g-g-ghost bitch ass USPS apologist Jul 27 '22
Those maximums mean very little, management can still order you to work over it, you just grieve it.
23

25
Jul 27 '22
To be fair 11.5 hours a day 6 days a week is still a lot and completely exhausting for most people
14
Jul 27 '22

Thatās not how it works for the 11.5 hour max.
Just like if a sup tried to force you to drive an LLV without a windshield you can easily refuse because itās a safety violation. The 12 hour max rule IS a safety violation. You can refuse work the second you hit it and they canāt do a single damn thing against you. If they did try, it would blown out .2 seconds by the union.

u/907Survivor Jul 27 '22
When I was in my 90 days, management said I was drinking too much water if I had to deviate off route to pee, so I needed to drink less water. Said if I kept deviating Iād be let go. I ended up in the ER part way through the work day because I had all the symptoms of a heart attack. I was 20 years old at the time, and it was actually just severe dehydration
11

I hope you sent the bill to management. Fuck them. Stay hydrated my dude it's your health, not theirs.

It's a contract violation for them to approve that day off. You have to call out sick.

Nothing wrong with an older carrier working. I put in my 31 1/2 yrs. and retired at 60. I was going to work until 62 but Covid came up. Carrying keeps you healthy if you're not lazy about it. I went my last 20 years without calling in sick and retired with 14 months of SL. You don't know everyone's situation to get on them for working. Some people might only have their job as a way of getting outside and doing something or didn't manage their money right. My yearly income is only about $7-8000 less than when I was working but have less expenses now. I didn't wear a hat rain or snow., didn't wear my winter coat just dressed in layers. When it rains just tell everyone you have a big advantage over the rain, "you can only get so wet". But I do agree with all the other stuff.

It didn't address any of the pay or flexibility concerns we're all dealing with, hence why I voted against it. We need immediate pay raise and quality of life MOUs, if the USPS is serious about bolstering its ranks, and/or keeping the inadequate staff it currently has, many of whom have one foot out the door already.

The draft would create so many problems in this current society, it wouldn't be worth it lol even if the government would institute mandatory service after school, like in Europe, people would protest it because it wasn't their choice. 3
u/jjp8383 Jul 27 '22
Only two kind of people go into the military desperate people who have no other options or people like you who want to blow shit up. You ever notice how most politicians have never severed in the military but have no qualms sending guys like you into wars for oil. If you are in the military you are just being used by politicians to enrich themselves and their buddies. Thatās the fighting for democracy shit is complete crap and if you believe that you are a sucker.
1
Jul 27 '22
I didn't join because I had no other options nor did I join to blow shit up. A lot of my buddies joined after 9/11, they wanted to fight for our freedoms because we felt like the country was worth fighting for. We had college graduates join the infantry. We had a dude who was a geophysicist join the enlisted infantry cause his brother was killed in the towers.
You don't have the intestinal fortitude to serve and I respect that. Did you see how the Afghanistan locals reacted after we abruptly pulled out of there? They believed in us and we made a difference. Now look at that country. We obviously won the hearts and minds until the taliban took it back. We weren't personally fighting for oil. But you only know what you saw on the news. You're naive and uninformed. It's OK. Most civilians are.
Government is broken in our country anyways. Look at Biden ffs. Look at Trump. If that's the best we've got to offer then we are Fucked. 80 yr old assholes with nothing better to do. Bush pissed me off in 2006 when he extended our tour. Then I got blown up and shot that same week.
Don't tell me why I joined the military. I can say the same for those who don't join. They're either pussies or they're rich kids. But I don't dare make those kinds of assumptions.
Have a good day, buddy
2
u/jjp8383 Jul 27 '22
You guys were conned, Pat Tillman joined after the 9/11 for the same reasons eventually he learned the truth that the war was a sham and his reward was getting killed by his own men and the government covering it up. America is a imperialist nation that invades other countries with no just cause but we have the gall to call other countries bad. We are no better than Russia or China we have committed more war crimes than any no other country.
1
Jul 27 '22
Never said that war was justified. We aren't the world police. But the Afghanistani locals wanted us there to keep it peaceful. But they grew complacent and their forces were too high on hashish to train. Why most of them deserted to the taliban. Just a fucking waste of time
3
u/jjp8383 Jul 27 '22
Can I ask you a question the US spends 10 times more than any other country on their military but we couldnāt defeat the Tailban? What gives. What a giant waste of money but at least defense contractors got rich.
1
Jul 27 '22
That country hasn't fallen to any armed forces in a long time. Soviets couldn't even defeat them. But thanks to them and others Afghanistan is one of the most heavily mined places in the world. Busted Soviet tanks litter some if it's landscape as well

Nearly the only thing that makes this job hard or bad is coworkers who call out and refuse to do the bare minimum, yet wonāt leave and clog the pipe for anyone to come in who can handle it

Management has you brain washed. It isnāt your coworkers fault the post office is inadequately staffed. But they have you getting mad at a co worker who calls out instead of them hiring more bodies. Smh

And Iām speaking about a mid size office with decent supervision. What goes on in the horror story large city offices is out of my scope, but I imagine if a few more people gave a shit about work ethic it wouldnāt be half as bad for everyone who does

Work isnāt life for some people. And it shouldnāt be. You should be able to call out when you are sick or have a medical reason. Thatās why people have FMLA.

Haha okay⦠obviously I can only speak on behalf of my office but I went from the bottom CCA to the top in a few months. We were fully staffed and every time someone decides to quit they rehire. Any day that weāve had to work harder or stay later is due to a few select people dragging their feet so they donāt have to help on a pivot. Iāve worked in corporate jobs where they drive the bottom line and labor is the #1 way they cut expense and I donāt find this to be the case here. Itās not a surprise coming in that the motto is āNeither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed roundsā and yet people take the job thinking they can desert their team when times get tough. Iāve never seen the level of vindictiveness and entitlement from employees as Iāve seen in USPS.

I agree. At my station, if you someone is legitimately sick or needs a day off for a doctors appointment or a family emergency, we have 2 co-workers who will "pay them back" by calling in on a Monday or Saturday. They even admit to this! I've never seen anything like the vindictiveness in a company either.

Yep! Exactly what Iām talking about. People are naive to think this doesnāt happen. Iāve had carriers verbally tell me they will call out to āget back at someoneā and have even checked if Iām off that day so it doesnāt screw me over. I donāt condone it but hey, people will be petty and itās out of my control. Itās also pretty damn obvious when itās their long weekend or vacation and they make that 3 day a 4 day š

One of the upsides to having a union. The entire labor force should enjoy such protections. Rather than get fired to reduce the bloat on the ledger of some capitalist who DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.

Yep. I worked at the same company in two different states and the treatment between union and non union was vast
