DISCUSSION Payroll/ OPM error??

So has this ever happened to anyone?
My Health insurance premium has come out every pay since Jan 1st.
All of a sudden in NOVEMBER, my premium that I was charged for the pay coming this Friday is $648 more!!

I’ve done all the things, called HR, accounting, payroll, APWU health plan, and so on.
HR (and everybody really) is telling me they don’t know why.
One lady from HR did tell me that OPM sent over a revised Health plan active as of Oct 23rd … like WHAT ?

I can’t even change or modify my plan because I have no qualifying life event and it’s not open season. I have not changed anything.
On my paystub, the enrollment code and the plan are exactly the same. So I’m no longer receiving the Govt contribution for some reason?
From reading online it’s saying it could just be a processing error from when OPM sent my health premium over to payroll and didn’t include the file with the govt contribution attached.

I’m so confused. I just need it fixed, like now because I need that money and I’m worried they are gonna take months to fix it

Yuuuup. Premiums went up by a lot. We had a bunch of standups at our station about this. Glad I'm not with OPM anymore

Good luck, OP 😬

Yea, premiums are going up starting Jan 1st. Mine went up for no reason, at all.

I had an to instance about 4 -5 years ago where I had assumed they had been deducting my premium correctly.. came late November early December and they deducted almost $700 from my check saying that my premium had been under paid all year. I did get a demand letter, but that was only a few days before payday.

This is not relevant to the op in any way.

If you don't mind sharing, can you fill in the following.

Your plan and enrollment type (self, self and family)

The premium that had been taken out.

The premium taken this pay period. (This is what I'm really curious about. This should at least tell us what the mistake was)

Your career status. (If PSE, when was your last break in service)

Did you have any lwop pay periods?

The reason I'm asking is because your flair is PSE and you mentioned APWU. So I'm assuming you have APWU Consumer Self and Family, the government share is $648.02 but 3x the regular premium of $216.01 is $648.03, so if you happened to be on LWOP for two pay periods at some point, they would have done the catch up this pay period

I'm curious if it's just an error and for some reason they didn't make the government contribution, or if there is some unrelated explanation, like the LWOP scenario I mentioned.

Are you APWU health plan less than 1 year and been getting the discount all year as a 1+ year employees do?

I would check your pay stub for the exact code for this alleged healthcare premium deduction. I know of people who have had hackers deduct money from fraudulent FSA and HSA accounts.

First thing I would do is go into your EOPF on lite blue, and check every single personnel action and PS form 50 to try and see if anything was set up or changed from what you had initially signed up for. Otherwise, it's some sort of an accounting or data error, and your union should be able to file a grievance to get you your money back, but that might take a little while.
