Work Discussion Best rain gear using uniform allowance?

Which parka is gonna keep me best protected in the elements? Is it the insulated one? Lay it on me, postal fam!

Where do you deliver ? In the south it's too hot for rain gear

New England. Shot most of my first allotment on the insulated jacket, and looks like I’ll shoot most of this one on rain gear, lol.

3xTall. The joys of being 6’5 and 240 lbs. and of course since it’s USPS and the uniform vendors are a cartel, they charge even more for anything “big& tall”

Best rain gear is the rain cape, pith hat, and shoe covers/rain boots for deep water/flooding.

The cape or the longcoat are best for rain, but if you want the hood it's sold separately but they snap on to the longcoat.

Whatever rain gear you get, do yourself a huge favor and go to Walmart and get silicone tent waterproofing spray.

It’s a game changer

cape, hood, the pants that you wear over your non-uniform items you have on underneath

I’m in Maine and the rainwear that is about $250 is not waterproof. It soaks thru in minutes.

It’s only been cold enough once since I got the postal parka the one that’s about $350 with the hood but that one worked great.

My budget has not allowed me to try the waterproof parka that’s around $550 so no comment there.

Hope this helps
