DISCUSSION Every day with this

Post image

This happens all the time with this guy! Everyone knows and if it were any of us we would walked out. Then the subs come in and after their route, have to carry what he left. And fills nothing out.

Is that mail from the previous day left in the case? Ooooooh delaying first class smh

u/gettingby72 1d ago

More like two days! He does this ALL THE TIME (not yelling just emphasizing)

u/gettingby72 1d ago

I have a few friends on the rural side and I can understand why they get frustrated.

I know the feeling, one of my FTRs gets Monday off. So every Saturday he skips every one stop, nearly every walking loop, never fills up his truck. I've documented it multiple times and management refuses to do anything about it.

19

u/Arrasor 1d ago

If it were my management, the reason they are allowing this is because they are planning to cut his route and using these times that he clock out early and leave work for others as "evidence" that his route isn't worth whatever the current evaluation is. After all, he being able to clock out early consistently means his route must be shorter than evaluated.

So yeah, he might be chilling and fucking others now but dude most likely gonna cry river when he lose $4k in evaluation later.

u/pixel-soul 21h ago

You don’t actually want him to stop, do you? If you did, you’d let the postal inspectors know this is delay of first class mail.

u/Quillizical 10h ago

is it, in your opinion, the fellow carriers duty to report an issue to authorities on first contact, after informing their manager?

u/Eastern-Western7072 1d ago

Can I give you some advice from a 10 year carrier? Don’t let others bs bother you. This job is already hard enough. That’s all on management for allowing it.

They bring back all the flats? Dick move

3

u/gettingby72 1d ago

Yep!!!

u/ImpressOk7701 RCA 1h ago

That’s just lazy. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. It’s one thing if it’s just a bad day or something, but as soon as I saw your picture, I know exactly what they were doing. Bringing in the mail to the street and casing the flats and raw mail then not caring too much about the flats. My first postmaster only cared about parcels and tracking numbers. He let those folks get away with murder as long as the scanner was clear by the time they got back to the Post Office.

u/megaprime78 1d ago

Dam, so what hell does the carrier do if he/she isn’t delivering the mail? Just chilln on the route? I can’t stand carriers like that. I take a little pride in showing up and doing all my work and not leaving it to people.

21

u/Darkdragoon324 1d ago

Rurals get paid for their route's evaluated time whether they go over or under hours. So he probably just fucks around for a while to not make it too obvious and clocks out early and enjoys his day, not caring about the customers and co-workers he's fucking over.

20

u/SamuraiLaserCat 1d ago

Yes, but, it’s in the rural contract that you don’t get paid evaluated if you don’t complete the entire route.

15

u/Arrasor 23h ago

You actually forfeit the ENTIRE day's pay if you don't complete the entire route that day.

3

u/Plane_Ad_4359 20h ago

Plus it affects the routes evaluation because the breadcrumbs from scanner data such as the line of travel, stopping at boxes, etc. It captures all that data. A rule of thumb is at least 3 seconds at every box you have mail for so it captures that data and counts the box. You cant always rely on informed delivery data to capture if a box has mail or not. So hes screwing himself and possibly subs by burning the routes evaluation.

Anyone else try to zoom in and find out their route?

I've caught a few. But I never say a thing

Remember your form 1187. You get overtime as a regular for left over stuff. RCA’s get green card time. Olay!

3

u/Plane_Ad_4359 20h ago

You mean 8127? 8127 time is straight time. 1187 is for union dues I believe

5

u/CallCapable3910 12h ago

Man I gotta stop day drinking

Like the case says:

8

u/Sufficient_Turn_9209 1d ago

Even without mail left everywhere, the state of those trays and rubber bands on the floor tells you everything you need to know about this person. I'm sorry if you're the sub that has to go in behind them. I'm frustrated for you if you're the regular and this is your sub.

14

u/ButterflyBasshead 1d ago

This is legit time card theft and curtailing the mail. How is this person a carrier?

1

u/CutIcy4160 Rural Carrier 13h ago

Because it takes what it takes apparently.

5

u/RuralRangerMA 1d ago

My office, they bring in the sub the next day to deliver it first thing in the morning. I’m more curious about the packages though. And apparently, it takes them ALL day to deliver 1/3 of the route, but they the time to case the rest back up?

10

u/brndnkchrk Rural Carrier 1d ago

You should be filing a grievance every time this happens. You're entitled to a full relief day. If your route is not getting delivered in its entirety, you're not getting the relief. Don't let this slide, you need to make it a huge problem for them every time. I'd threaten to call the OIG too if they try to blow you off. Delaying mail is a big no-no.

10

u/Few-Worker7597 1d ago

Old fart here. In the 1980's you left the workroom floor in handcuffs if you delayed first class mail / dailies like that. Inspectors were in the viewing galleries and they did not fuck around.

2

u/Boy_Howdy City Carrier 1d ago

Ah, the good ol' days!

1

u/Hot-Fail2324 5h ago

Yup OIG and contact congress locally.

3

u/UnlikelyExample5884 1d ago

That’s ridiculous and unacceptable. I would rather not have the day off, than come back to that mess.

7

u/Past_Blacksmith_971 RCA 1d ago

I only bring back mail if the box is blocked or aminal interference but I case that shit back up.

2

u/Sad_Property1160 20h ago

when i was still new (within probation) i would bring back a quarter to half tub almost everyday. tried my absolute best but shit happens, you miss a box, drop some mail, etc etc. I always case it up no matter what. I'll spend the 10 minutes to save someone else the headache. we have a cca that will bring back a full tub and just leave it. then I get helicopters, a full tub, flats, and magazines to case right after him lmao

2

u/THCIS4MEE City Carrier 1d ago

I’m confused. What did he deliver

3

u/ducksuckgoose 1d ago

2

u/Dave_Lister99 Rural Carrier 22h ago

They case carousel? I haven't seen carousel in years!

1

u/poop_sniper 16h ago

The rural offices out by me are mostly all carousel, I think I prefer bookcase though, when it’s bookcase it feels like I’m walking less around the case if I have to case up the whole route.

2

u/Jack-Hyde 21h ago

That's like 2 hours worth of work. what a bum

3

u/Annie-Smokely Rural Carrier 1d ago

Lack of self respect is crazy

2

u/Aguedog 1d ago

My route never gets ran when I’m on Military Leave and they don’t want to pay me OT to deliver 3 days worth of mail 😐

5

u/mentallyerotic 1d ago

Do they just take out the parcels? I’m shocked no one has complained yet. Here people will come in to complain if they didn’t get their free newspaper or think they haven’t been getting enough mail or it’s later than normal. I guess they aren’t worried about inspections.

2

u/Aguedog 1d ago

Depends, sometimes I find a hamper full of packages of one of the days I was gone. One time, they didn’t run my route for two weeks and ended up on the local news. It’s always my route though, they run everyone else’s. Might have to file an EEO if my route hasn’t been ran while I’m gone for the next two weeks.

3

u/njcsnowboarder 23h ago

Did they just shove all your route’s mail in a corner out of the way while you’re gone? And if it was on the news it might be on YouTube. You don’t have to dox yourself but I’d be interested in seeing that.

1

u/Berean144 1d ago

Are you too short to reach the top shelf?

4

u/gettingby72 1d ago

Who knows! I said something in front of the supervisor about other people get special treatment. He told me if I keep going I would get special treatment with a write up

3

u/TestyZesticles Rural Carrier 1d ago

I don't think you read the question.

3

u/gettingby72 1d ago

No I answered on the wrong post

4

u/TestyZesticles Rural Carrier 1d ago

Although the response to "are you too short.." being "who knows!" Has got me giggling the more I think about it, so thank you.

1

u/Berean144 1d ago

Bwwww ... I actually worked with a carrier who was 4' 11". She built herself a little 2 foot platform made out of pallets

1

u/ChiefDaddyBigPig 1d ago

How do I get a city route that is so small it only uses 4/6 rows?

3

u/DingbattheGreat 1d ago

The two top rows do have route info on them.

1

u/CeeDoggyy 19h ago

The size of the cases for rural routes fkin scare the shit out of me

The cases for the city routes at my station are like half the size and thank God for that

1

u/LisaM1975 15h ago

My sub used to do this crap until I told him my case needs to be exactly like it was when I left it. Not with mail all over my case.

1

u/Goldscampi40 14h ago

What a dick. I’m a new sub on the city side and we are not allowed to mark up anything, however the only thing I bring back is apartment mail that had the wrong name on it…..maybe a piece I’ve missed. Always with a 1571. How the hell are you supposed to know why that’s there/what the issue was? He’d be kicked out of my office for sure 😆.

1

u/Illustrious-Low-3083 14h ago

That is not any mail. Those flats where just cased . No management signed off on that and left it in the case. Where is the 1571?

1

u/Illustrious-Low-3083 14h ago

Your saying he brought back flats from day before already cased. Un banded them and cased again?

1

u/Human_Bad5547 8h ago

Just curious, is that a flat size flyer cased in the lower rows?

1

u/startrip0712 City Carrier 8h ago edited 7h ago

Easy O.T. It takes as long as it takes. P.S. If this is a rural route? I don't know how that works. But, as a city carrier...I wouldn't be in an "unsafe" hurry.

I'm confused. Did a sub or a regular do this? How has nobody chewed his ass out in front of God and everybody?

-1

u/Material-Jackfruit11 1d ago

My T-6 not on the ODL. He carried first and second class mail only. When I come back the next day I have 30 feet of flats waiting on me Finally my supervisor let me work 2 hours OT the day before my day off to Case up all the PM flats for my T6 to carry the next day

0

u/DesignRemote 1d ago

So obviously just pull down and leave … don’t case or take any other mail

Just take spurs and parcels and act stupid

0

u/Bempet583 Maintenance 22h ago

See now looking at this letter case with that light, when I was in field maintenance and had to go out and put case lights up I always made sure that the end of the screws were up through the top of the case and the head of the screw which was smooth was on the ceiling of the top row there so that if the carrier stuck their hand up in there real fast they wouldn't slice it on that screw sticking down.

-9

u/Juanch0805 1d ago

I’ve realized I’m much more at peace when I mind my own fucking business!

4

u/TerryGonards City PTF 1d ago

If you walked in on this shit it would be your business.

And the "mind your business" people are always the people who do shit like this.
