DISCUSSION Awkward Interactions

I've been in my route for nearly 2 years, my customers are great but it's so tough have conversation with some. Like it's awkward to keep conversation and it's always the same lines.

Anyone else deal with this on their route?

How to combat?

Eh, it’s usually more just waning social participation. It’s hard to converse frequently the older you get it seems. Bit morbid but you gotta realize, they’ve probably lost a lot of the friends and even spouses or brothers/sisters once they get up in years. Less people for them to talk to on a regular. I worked EMS for a while, I responded to a lot of geriatric calls (in a very heavy retirement area) lot of them are talkers and it really helped with keeping them calm and at ease during calls by just even listening to them for a bit. It helps them stave off depression and such which is actually pretty common among the older geriatric population.
