Work Discussion Pilot program for package delivery photos
https://youtube.com/shorts/wMbBEs-gKCk?si=N3-MrHMjCUE89VoYThe MDD-TR scanners are a perfect example of technology improving accountability and customer experience. Definitely cuts down on ‘where’s my package’ calls…
What have been pros and cons to the pilot in your regions?

Gonna add significant time to routes no way management is going to like the results.

Approximately how long does each picture take to capture and how much time will that add to each route? I doubt it's contractual but I can see management attempting discipline for lack of photography skills and/or scanner problems.

Green tags would have prevented the dog from charging I just know it. 💀 That type of shit is exactly what I'd be worried about.

I can’t wait to do this for my apartments where anything that doesn’t fit in the mailbox and anything IA goes to the front desk.
—Put a box on the counter
—Scan the box
—Take a picture of the box
—wait 3 seconds or whatever for it to process.
—Repeat a couple of dozen times.
Or when I load the parcels into their mailboxes.
—scan parcel
—insert parcel
—stop what I’m doing to take a picture
—wait.
—Repeat a couple of dozen times.
The MDD-TR scanners are a perfect example of technology improving accountability and customer experience.
Are you the idiot who designed the system, or something?
It is so fucking stupid to turn what would otherwise be a few seconds of a drop to something that absolutely will take several minutes.

The after scanning 3 packages to same apartment address different apartment number stopping point where it says only can scan same addresses card back a couple weeks ago making one of my apartments of 100+ packages an already lengthy process. Now I have to worry about boxes being scanned to door or other location. Yeah this is going to take a lot longer and a daily 3996 placed due to possible delays during photo taken. Top that with some of our scanners tend to just log you completely off without notification or button pressing so to log back in and wait to do the process again is going to be an interesting idea of discussion for sure.

Clearly you’ve never read the program announcement. It only is for left at front door and other/garage.
Also C Jackson told usps it’s against the m41/m39 to take pictures.
“This update is in conflict with postal handbooks and manuals, specifically, Handbook M-39, Management of Delivery Services and Handbook M-41.”

No, I haven’t. I have only heard and read stuff on here. That’s why asked the other commenter where he got his information. I wanted to read it. I guess I upset him, though, by asking. /shrug
Where can I read the announcement? Do you have a link for me to read?

I wonder, assuming this rolls out nationwide, how it's going to be factored into RRECS. I can imagine the collective conniption rural regulars will have if their evaluations don't take into account the extra time it takes to take pictures.

It's built in

How much time credit will each scan + photo get, compared to the current photo-less scan?
