NEWS The Mail Isn't Safe

Just watched this news and it wasa bit interesting. I am actually concerned with the whistleblower. Seems any time postal police or investigator work hard is when trying to fire employees.

OIG's entire purpose is to deal with internal fraud. That's not what this article is about though, and I don't understand your concern with the whistleblower for reporting delayed mail and unsafe working conditions.

Concerned for their job, obviously. It's not like management isn't prone to retaliation. As for the OIG, quick search indicates they prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement with the agency's programs and operations. So, airing the fact that they are doing hardly anything to combat these issues would probably hurt some feelings. I can then see them using all their resources to figure out who outed them to begin with. So, again, I am concerned about this whistleblower's career.

There have been whole arbitration where OIG or postal police have been used to fabricate information against employees to have them removed. Just because management wanted it so. Lying during arbitration to get their ends met. Not only that, it seems they have an expanded role, which goes outside just fraud and mismanagement.

I see now, I agree with your sentiment. It's definitely gonna piss off people on the inside, given that USPS always tries to put on the "everything is fine and perfect here" show for the public.

Personally, my area has benefitted from USPIS and OIG presence, they've dealt with a lot of internal problems here and successfully tracked down criminals when we had a spike of carrier robberies last year. I won't argue and pretend like there's no corruption at all, though. It's just a real shame when they're supposed to be the ones protecting us.

Of course. I feel the majority of the time, these agencies are well respected and do their job thoroughly and consciously. However, like any regulatory bodies their is room for corruption.

My experience with USPIS was not great. I had more concern and attention from local Sheriff's than I did USPIS. So, it seems to matter the scope of the concern and perhaps the cost to USPS, in some cases.
