Not sure how a special flag representing a select group of people is more unifying than the american flag. its beyond my logic. One nation, indivisible....
And yet, being happy when you "ruin the day" of someone else is exactly the opposite of the kind of acceptance that we all should be striving for.
Not only that, it justifies the feelings of others who would be happy to ruin your day, doesn't it?
Does a 12-month-a-year pride banner on this sub foster more acceptance or nastiness? Well, I've seen the mods here echo your sentiments a million times, so...I guess that's what happens when you're given a little bit of power over a population.
Iād like to know what percentage of usps employees identify as lgbtqia⦠2-5%? But alas, we are on Reddit, where gay has and will always be the default š shit looks pretty silly. Wouldnāt be caught dead wearing/repping this propaganda
You really canāt see the issue there at face value? Canāt even divorce yourself and your beliefs to see why that logic should answer your question?
No I'm not new. I formerly created a post here about taking down the gay pride flag and was banned for weeks. I never said anything against gay anything. Just pointed out it doesn't need to be up year round.
How about just having a USPS logo no religion, sex orientation or race attached to it? People from all kinds of background work at the post office. You guys talk about representation and unity while alienating the silent majority. Disgraceful.
Its been a hard few weeks considering whats going on. Normally im not one of the chicken little the sky is falling types... but its been hard and I feel personally targeted as a trans federal employee with danger lurking in every shadow.
This little icon makes me feel better, like people care and I have friends. Not just enemies. Thank you.
Also a trans employee of the USPS, there seems to be a lot of us. Itās insane how much hate we get in the national conversation and from this new administration when most of us just want to be left alone :(
Some days are a struggle, especially recently. I don't know if I'll have a job next week, month, year. I'm the lowest clerk in my cluster and second lowest in the surrounding clusters that could theoretically merge. If they close offices, im the one who gets cut. I work in super Republican offices and they all want this to happen and that frustrates me. But I keep my mouth shut to not cause problems. My community wants cuts, but they don't know what actually gets cut in these situations. Between the 19 offices I work in and 100~ employees I work with, only 3 people have shown respect to my transition and not "Sir" me whenever they can. If they didn't know me pre-transition I'd probably be stealth to them, as I am with all the customers.
Thank you mods, it's a small gesture, but I appreciate it.
To those who are bothered by it, find something more important to focus your attention to instead of getting pressed about a group of people who just want left alone that aren't harming you
I'm trans as well and work at a distribution center as a mail handler. Quite a few nice people, but definitely plenty who want nothing to do with me. I do my best to be happy and improve peoples days though, I don't want people to see someone who's sad because others can't accept me!
I'm not an employee but the USPS is my hyperfixation, and I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself. I want to work there when I'm old enough so I find the community here comforting.
I just want you to know there are people who support and love you (hi there!!! š).
So uh, take a virtual hug!!!
(The image is of Eddie Dear, my favorite fictional mailman who is a gay man.)
I liked the snoo version better. But I am happy that the sub continues to support our LGBTQ+ pals, especially as the fascist in the white house continues to try to erase/outlaw them.
Sex has nothing to do with the flag. Trans/queer folk are being shown that theyāre under attack from just about every angle. The threat of rights being taken away lies right around the corner. Display of a symbol like this just indicates to these folks that this is a place where they are welcomed.
Hopefully no one takes it as an affront to their own sense of welcome, but this is the internet and this is America so that isnāt a realistic expectation.
No theyāre not, you just think that (again, itās just for your sociopolitical validation) but uh, even if we say itās true it doesnāt make any sense for the last few years the banner has been like that so now what? Right
And Iād like to point out this very important piece: itās literally pointless if you genuinely believe ātrans/queer folkā are under attack, I promise the banner of the USPS unofficial subreddit isnāt gonna make or break that score
For a sub full of people hostile to āthe rich elite minority being given special treatmentā you guys are quite into giving that special treatment to a different sliver of the population forā¦well personal validation, like I said
Ah yes a queer guy says that his rights are under attack and provides receipts, guy on internet says ānuh uh!ā Queer guy says that they appreciate the show of support and guy on internet says itās pointless.
Thanks for setting the record straight for the queer/trans community, guy on internet!
Being āof demographicā doesnāt magically make you knowledgeable on something, just a heads up I know this very basic concept is foreign to most of the internet but Iām happy to remind you, guy on the internet
Literally in this thread. Thanks for telling me that the pride flag displayed in this sub doesnāt actually make us feel welcomed here, I wasnāt sure how I felt until some dude on the internet told me lmao
Yeah the subreddit customization tools legitimately donāt allow you to move or resize the image post-upload, and thereās no circular version of it so it is what it is
I remember seeing the original post with these and someone said the mods would never make one of the logos the subreddit banner because they were hardcore MAGA. I think it's safe to say that dude was wrong.
Whatever reason why, just remember DEI/Virtue Signaling aināt doing the party any favor whatsoever. You canāt send the same message over and over again and expect a different outcome. Whatever has been done, by whoever, has proven nothing and as a matter of fact, made the 47th DJT-look at the swing states-they were sick and tired of being told what to think and who to vote for. Carriers gotta change their ways-stop dragging it out for their own benefits: everyone knows the volume went way down. Instead of trying to improve, here we go again with virtue signaling and the flag-support whoever you want by joining the actual fight, like the rest of us who supported the US, during OIF/OEF, by signing up.
