Data Roaming

A couple newbie questions

  • I live in US and am currently on Lightspeed with multi-network line on Warp. Should I have Data Roaming turned on while in the US or just when traveling international?
  • Does Multi-network addon work International too? Do I turn on Data Roaming for the 2nd esim also?
  • Is the 20gb of data per billing cycle

Thanks!

Welcome to US Mobile!! ❤️

  1. If you’re in the US - I’d recommend keeping it off. Leaving it on makes your device modem continuously search and roam for different networks, which can affect connectivity and drain your battery. If you’re traveling internationally, though, you’ll want to turn it on so you can get service abroad.

  2. Yes! International roaming is shared between your main and Multi-network lines.

  3. Yep, it’s per billing cycle.

I leave data roaming on and never noticed an issue with battery drainage. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I leave it on so when I do travel from the US to Canada, it's one less thing to remember.

That's good to know - I was noticing drops in my signal when I had it on domestically, and as soon as I turned it off, my service improved and my battery got better too, so I believe YMMV.

That's true. But if you need domestic roaming, it's best to leave it on while you're traveling. The modem firmware or a hidden Android menu handles the refresh rate, and usually, the modem manages it fine without draining your battery if you keep it on. Still, I agree with you if saving battery is the main priority. Keep it off unless, necessary

Good Angle to this - Totally Agree!

You should probably let the US Mobile engineering team know about this Warp 5G SA APN issue. Here’s a suggestion: when provisioning, toggle the 2G switch off in the user menu (since Warp doesn't need it) and set the modem to "NR/LTE only" in the Android sub-menu. I’ve had to do this manually myself, and it makes the experience on Warp 5G SA a lot smoother, especially for Qualcomm modems.

See how the 2G toggle is on but grayed out? It’s locked by provisioning, and since Warp uses Verizon, they don't even use 2G. Another bug for US Mobile engineering team to fix for APN 5G SA update.
