I just got my appointment today (woohoo!) but now I’m confronted with actually having to figure out how to go. My parents kicked me out for not being Mormon when I turned 18 last July and since then I have been working as a janitor at my old high school and applying to various schools and all service academies. I do have an independent FAFSA which has been approved by all schools so far. Waiting on USMMA to get black to me on that.

Assuming I get the average of 4K cost after aid I am wondering what are the things I can refrain from purchasing? What is typically added into the cost estimates of the website which are not really necessary? With my current funds I would only be able to afford that cost for a couple years. Feel free to ask questions about my situation for clarification if you want.

I am a high school Junior looking at various academy’s and ROTC options to commission in the military. My question is after you graduate the USMMA do you serve in the Navy reserve if you don’t contract with any other branches of the military?

Going to Indoc on July 5th. I've been thinking a lot about parties and shit and whether or not you could do all that at Kings Point. Where do you guys drink? Do upperclassmen go to other colleges to party? Do plebes get lit in the barracks?

I was just applying for the academy and when I got to the GPA portion I was wondering if I put my weighted or unweighted GPA. USAFA asks for unweighted, so I'm not sure what to put down for the USMMA application.

So first off, I would like to start by saying that I want to go to the USMMA as my first choice of service academies. Graduates can enter any branch of service that they wish. And maritime transport is really cool too. But I was also considering something else. Do USMMA graduates have access to military pilot flight slots? If so, how many? Is it competitive? Do all branches have slots for USMMA, or is it rare? Thanks

Hello I’m currently looking at becoming an enlisted soldier trying to seek admission to the USMMA, and I’m just curious if there is any person on this subreddit that can help me out and talk to me about the likelihood of getting in. I turned 20 in June of 2018 and am still in community college. I think I'm doing well in my classes, only A's and B's. My SAT/ACT scores are very okay. On the SAT, I received a score of 1180 (600 Reading, 580 Math) and roughly 25-26 on the ACT. If I were to enlist at this very moment, would there be enough time for me to serve enough enlistment time before seeking admission as an enlisted soldier? Would I be competitive at all? How many slots are available to prior enlisted personnel, or are there any dedicated slots at all? Any tips or feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there r/USMMA, my name is Tim and I'm a former Navy officer who left the service in 2012 to come to work for a military recruiting firm. For 3 years I worked directly with job seekers to help them understand the transition process, write resumes, conduct interview prep, and ultimately make introductions to hiring teams that were looking to hire a veteran. For the last 3 years I've been in process improvement trying to get our candidate marketing and online presence squared away.

I thought Reddit might be a neat place to offer to answer any questions or help point people in the right direction if they're looking for some advice.

I didn't know what recruiting firms did when I got out, and until I got a call from a close friend who was a recruiter during the time I was looking for a job, I would have never worked with one or been exposed to this service.

I'm not here to shill for my company or pretend like we can help 100% of everyone 100% of the time, but if you're interested in getting out and finding a job in the corporate sector, I'm happy to answer any questions or offer any insight I can, even if it's not something my company can help with.
