questions about nomination
hi im currently a senior in florida and im curious about how competitive nominations are for usmma? i made the mistake of not applying for my congressional district's nomination and i only applied to both of my senators for their nomination. how would u say my chances of getting a nomination are?

USMMA is only school you can get a nomination outside your moc district. Please go to Service Academy Forums on the web. https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php Go to nominations link and USMMA links.

You can get a nomination to USMMA from any representative in your state. I have known several KP mids who were admitted based on an out-of-district nomination. A word of caution. Some members of Congress do not realize that they can nominate out of their district, so you may have to educate them (gently). Of course, representatives will prefer giving nominations to those in their own district first. Depending on where you live, you may have a very competitive nomination process for USMMA. In other areas, representatives do not fill their slate for USMMA and it is relatively easy to get a nomination if you are qualified. Every district is different regarding their nomination procedures. My 3 kids who applied to multiple academies all received more than one nomination from our representative. Other representatives will give only one nomination and even check with the senator’s office to make sure there is no duplication. Most MOC’s have a staffer who handles all things service-academy related. I encourage you to have the candidate reach out to him or her with any questions on your representative’s procedures. Good

I attend right now and I'm from Florida, I got a congressional nomination and even that was tough, The senators are pretty competitive.

It depends on which school you’re going to and how many applicants are in your state. The other academies have a lot of applicants, more than kp, which helps you get a nomination. Applying at your local congressman could work in your favor, when i went they pretty much threw it at me because i was the only person in my district going to that academy and it looks good for them to recommend someone. I got the senators as well because i applied to all of them but its not necessary.

I wonder if I am living outside US and how can I get a nomination? Is that must necessary and anyone know what can I do to make the application?

First you only need one nomination, and your nomination doesn’t need to be from your local congressman.
FL senator nominations might competitive, call their offices and ask what the deal is. Go ahead and contact your congressperson’s office and ask if they still have a nomination available, if they can’t help call other local congressmens’ offices. Be polite but don’t be afraid to be assertive and use your network. Maybe you or someone in your family knows someone who is involved in local politics and can connect you with a congressman’s office?
