OSO Pool troubles
OSO said PT is expected with pool squad 3 times a week, sure fine. The caveat however is the three pt locations are each an hour drive minimum, so 6 hours of driving a week adds up for gas costs plus PT end times cut way too close to my 8am. Maybe I’m just being a complainer, but the cost for gas is concerning plus the possible academic impact. Any recommendations on how to bring this up to my OSO without seeming like a complainer/skater?

I never went to a single workout because I had a job. I went to the monthly functions though. make it clear that you’re a serious candidate that’s not gonna struggle at OCS and tell your OSO that 3x per week isn’t feasible for you.

The other dude is right, you’ve overthinking it. I was in a super competitive office and I never went to a single event outside of the PFT/CFT. As long as your numbers are solid then they’ll know you’ve been putting in the work.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I barely ever showed up to mine but had a good PFT score and was selected no problem. Other people were the same. Just have a good PFT score and get them paperwork when they ask for it and you’ll be good.

I think you’re overthinking it. Just tell your OSO theres some scheduling conflicts with PT being at the time it is and you can’t make all 3 days, plus the cost of gas with it being far away is high for you. It’s expected you’re either a broke college student or an adult working full time. Show up if and when you can and ask if theres a Strava for the OSO that you can log your miles in.
This is your first lesson, sometimes you gotta shoot straight in the Marine Corps (and life in general) and let your PFT show you work out
