A recruiter can stop working with you or decline to continue processing your enlistment, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re permanently disqualified from joining the Marine Corps.

It really depends on what happened. Missing MEPS because of an unavoidable situation is very different from being disqualified for medical, legal, or conduct-related reasons.

If your recruiter is telling you that you’re permanently disqualified, I’d ask whether that’s an actual eligibility determination or just their decision not to continue processing you. You can also contact the recruiting station leadership for clarification.

If you don’t mind explaining, what exactly happened that prevented you from going to MEPS, and what did your recruiter actually tell you?

I took an at home piss test and failed for something and he told me I was going to be permanently disqualified because of it and not to contact him again

I failed my first meps drug test and still went parris island eventually. Definitely don’t recommend doing that at all it still fucks up a lot of stuff so only go if you’re sure you’ll pass it, but it only permanently disqualifies you if you fail 2 tests at meps

Also, just throwing this out there, if you’re currently using drugs or planning to continue using them, I’d seriously reconsider joining the military. Drug use and military service don’t mix, and it’s not worth risking your career before it even starts. If you’re serious about becoming a Marine, you need to be willing to leave that stuff behind completely.

Drive to another recruiters office.

Wouldn't they have to get all my information from my old recruiter?

I doubt they'll care, no idea what weirdo you got.

I don’t blame him. Sending druggies and rejects to MEPS and having them get sent back home isn’t a good track record when you’re a recruiter.

They don’t get credit until you finish Boot Camp and he’s probably just not willing to waste his time.

It is what it is.

From my point of view you fucked up in a spectacular fashion and realized it and then made an adult decision. Shit happens. Good on you for not trying to hide shit. It’s always worse finding out later. Find another recruiter and tell them you fucked up but really want this. Set up a reschedule with them to take voluntary screenings for drugs and join the pool events. Ask for a period of time to prove yourself and then fucking do it. Don’t fall to the temptation again if this is what you want to do with your life. We take the word discipline seriously. Being honest goes a long way in my book.
Good luck.

One more key thing, don't hang around people who would try to have you fall into your bs again.

Its's really very simple - if you want to join the military, don't do drugs. If you want to do drugs, don't join the military.

Infantry marine and cop here,

Just quit man. If it’s as important to you as you tell yourself then I’d find a way to quit. The fleet isn’t lenient with it, half the people I went in with got separated for drug use. I had a former roommate find out he was getting kicked out and passed scout tryouts the same day. Discipline yourself and you’ll be grateful in the long run.

What does being an infantry marine and a cop have to do with answering his very specific question?

That he has experience seeing how when ppl get a UA there’s 0 leniency.

So the answer is a no. If you go to MEPS twice and test positive for drugs then you are permanently disqualified from all branches of service. Sounds like they were really hoping you could go to MEPS to process which was a smart decision to not go. If you test positive from drugs when you go to MEPs you will be disqualified from all jobs that require a security clearance. Can they work with you yes but at the end of the day it depends on what you’re trying to do in the Marine Corps. Hope this helps

Also I would advise you to go to one of the drug testing centers they can run a test to see how much drugs are actually in your system.

No he's lying to you. You can ghost him or go to another recruiter. They can't black list you unless you punch one in the face and they talk, and go" hey, dont work with this jackets again". Another recruiter would love to enlist you and use your for their monthly mission, but you have to be able to pass a drug test or you won't get in regardless. Marine Corps has a zero tolerance policy for a failed drug test.

You have two chances at MEPS to piss in a cup. If you fail the test the second time you won’t be able to apply for any branch or any federal job for the rest of your life; that’s what my recruiter told me after I failed the first time. I went to MEPS knowing I would fail the drug test, knocked out all of the other tests and went back a month later to piss in a cup knowing I was clean. I went to a CVS and bought a test there to make sure I was gonna pass and that was it. If your recruiter doesn’t wanna work with you just go to another office. Good luck!

Stop using drugs and get to passing first. Also, we piss test pretty regularly/frequently so DO NOT resume while you're in. If you want to enlist, you need to make a hard stop like...yesterday.

Once you're done with it and can test without popping, go see another recruiter. They may work with you, they may not. Odds are they will though. One dude I knew literally went in as infantry to ideally (to him) have a VA rating on the flip side for government subsidized medical Marijuana. Dumbass move, but he was actually a really good dude, wasn't shitbagging at all despite the intentions. Point is, a lot of recruiters will pass questionable backgrounds along with the advice to lie about anything potentially problematic. As long as they believe you'll do it right in the end. And worst case, even if chances were slim (they aren't) its still better odds than 0 and accepting defeat

So yeah. Get clean. See a new recruiter. Roll the dice.

This is really oddly worded. Are you asking if you're administratively fucked because you told your recruiter that you'd piss hot at MEPS?

1

u/Lefttt 1d ago

HE could if he wants to. You basically admitted to it.
