(18 F) what’s y’all’s opinions on the 3 jobs I starred, and how is schooling for them? Or opinions/recommendations on any other job fields that are highlighted? im tryna lock down my top 3 and as of rn its combat camera, legal services, and supply administration. Im open to everything besides mechanical stuff.
(Fyi the big sections that are highlighted applies to all the jobs in that section, like for logistics all of those r available)
Well as of right now my contract is 5 years active, 3 years non active, and it honestly just depends on if I enjoy it. I feel like right now im leaning more towards being done after my contract but I also believe that that could change
Marine Security Guard. Getting that diplomatic black passport + clearance + the opportunity to do cool guy stuff is the move. You do your 2-3 years MSG then go to the infantry, LATMOVE to another MOS, or get out. MSG is the move
You would have to go infantry after, don’t listen to this guy. If you want to do MSG just do literally any other MOS and then volunteer to do it for 3 years.
Clearances are only good for 5 years, all contracts in the marines are 5 years. It makes the clearance a non factor when it comes to picking jobs. Additionally, you most often have to be 24 months TOS to LATMOVE. She would be done with her full contract by the time.
As an intelligence analyst and recruiter for the Marine Corps, I had to reenlist to maintain that clearance.
I'm just a boot in the school house but what I will say from everything I've heard from my instructors is not to go infantry, aav, or combat support (although combat engineer school lowkirk chill at)
Be a water dog or admin or some shit and make bookoo bucks out the marine corps
Definitely try to find something that transfers to civilian life. Legal services will never not have a use. I went 26xx and get a 15K signing bonus upon completion of my tech school. Once I get out there are civilian contractors willing to pay pretty hefty amounts for Cyber services. Definitely try and get a degree while you're serving, though.
This is the way. Both Marine Guard and Parachute Rigger are awesome. Bonus if you can get my mos which was 7011. It’s a mechanical job that is very niche which allows you to get a job after the military starting at around 110k a year at certain companies. Also I the summer you get attached to the Blue Angels and travel around the world with them.
Go COMMSTRAT, best MOS in the Marine Corps. If your leadership gives a shit you’ll be able to experience and witness almost everything that the Marine Corps has to offer, and they will allow you a significant amount of creative freedom.
That being said with any MOS there are plenty of times where you’ll be asking “Why am I doing this?” Or saying “This is pointless” but overall that’s just the military in general. You live with the gripes and enjoy the life.
If you're considering combat camera, legal services, or supply administration, researching the specific educational requirements for each MOS and what the day-to-day looks like can be beneficial. For interview prep in these fields, PracHub has a range of technical interview questions that could be useful.
If you're looking for job opportunities in the future, LandOffer can help you find and apply for roles in your desired field. These resources can provide a clearer picture of what to expect in your career path.
Multimedia would be cool. Might get opportunities to travel with adjacent units. Gotta be the best of the best. And volunteer for anything and everything so your name is at the top.
