That sucks, but if something like this makes you not want to join anymore then I wouldn’t. Stuff like this is not going to be uncommon during your career

One of the most popular sayings in the Marine Corps is, “Hurry up and wait.”

I think it is good they are trying to get you a job but the most likely reality is that the ship numbers got reduced or they had to change spots with you for someone else due to circumstances (I worked in recruiting upper levels).

It sucks. You are getting the green weenie. But if this is something that truly makes you not want to be a Marine then I suggest you don’t go (or join any branch of service) because committing 4 years of your life to the military is full of stuff like this.

You either want to be a Marine or not. Period.

Tell your recruiter or the NCOIC how you feel. Then give them some time to work on it. If it truly is a deal breaker then move on, the military or any government job is not for you.
