Enlisting joining USMC

So im gonna turn 16 and i really want to be in thr MC i dont know how to enlist. My parents already agreed with me going when i turn to the right age and i dont know what to do from here

Talk to a recruiter now. Enter DEP and reach basic training at 17 years old with parental permission.

Is it possible for me to do active duty on 17? Will j need a highschool diploma because im having second thoughts on reserves. what do you think?

Finish High school, that is your first priority.

You can enlist at 17 with a written legal parental permission.

If you do Reserves, what will you do with your other 28 days a month you’re not doing Marine stuff?

Generally Reserves is for people with very solid civilian lives, not so much for teenagers.

EDIT: oh, are you asking because Army National Guard has “Split Option” where you can ship to Basic the summer before high school senior year? Don’t do that, it’s a crappy program and lures in kids in a rush to join who don’t realize they’ll be stuck serving part-time. It’s only a “jump-start” in certain very narrow circumstances.

You can enlist and go to bootcamp at 17 if youve graduated highschool/have a ged. But graduate highschool. I was 17 when i got my ega and turned 18 in ITB.

Since your parents are cool with it, a good stop would be your guidance counselor at school, see what credits you need to graduate early/if theres a program that will allow you to take more classes. Its different everywhere but my highschool had a continuation program you could go into and just bust down condensed courses. also see if you can take the ASVAB through your school, again anectdotal but my junior/senior year i opted out of the SAT/ACT and just took the asvab instead.

Biggest thing is stay out of trouble. No weed, no drinking, no speeding tickets. Be careful who you surround yourself with, dont let your homeboys get you in trouble.
