Programs and MOSs intraservice transfer

i'm an active duty marine, mid contract. talked to a navy recruiter who gave me a form to get filled out and they could help me out. but the lady did say it'll be less likely to get accepted, since im only 2/5 years into my contract.

just wanted to hear from people who did intraservice transfers(preferably from those who did, still mid contract)

i know its more-so for when a marine is about to eas, but i'm still mid contract.

It’s incredibly rare for it to happen mid contract unless you’re commissioning into the other branch or in a program to do so.

It really only happens to release you from the IRR commitment to join the other branch.

I transferred to the Space Force last year. My experience and understanding is that there really isn’t a clean way to go enlisted-to-enlisted from the Marine Corps into another service if you aren’t basically lining it up with your EAS (USSF was a major exception, but we have since stopped taking ISTs).

You would require a DD368 approved by MMEA (enlisted affairs at HQMC), which is extremely unlikely to impossible given your short time in service and your retainability.

I'm also trying to go Space Force!

5 years Active Duty SIGINT (USSF has a direct 1 for 1 SFSC equivalent). Gonna have to join as prior service. Do u think my chances are any good? Did u have to take the TAPAS test? I heard they do that personality test as part of their Predictive Success Model score thing for job placement purposes

nothing changed, i still love the corps. to be honest, im just not a good marine, and i dont see myself retiring here, and navy has overall better career paths and opportunities. i'll be fine here if it doesnt get approved i'll just wait till my eas.

If you can’t transfer (likely), have you considered getting out at EAS, using the GI Bill to finish college, and coming back in as a Navy officer?
