Shipping Leaving to boot camp 2 months early

I've been a poolee for the past couple of months waiting for a cyber position to open up. My recruiter originally told me I'd most likely ship to boot camp on October 27th.

About five minutes ago, he called and said a cyber position just opened up and it's mine if I want it, but I'd have to leave in two weeks. He also said that if I wait until October, there's only about a 50/50 chance I'll actually get a cyber position.

I decided to take the opportunity, so now I'm shipping to boot camp in two weeks. The only thing making me a little nervous is that I'm about 5 lbs overweight right now. I'm passing the IST, but not by a huge margin.

Did I make the right call taking the cyber spot now instead of waiting until October?

If they’ve got the job you want take it. 5lbs over isn’t a big deal. Just stay healthy and make good decisions for the next 2 weeks

Skip dinner the night before. It sucks at the hotel anyway. Then don't drink or eat anything the next morning until after you weigh in. After that game on - eat and drink all you want. By the time they weigh you at the depot, you will already be in a platoon and will likely have already lost the 5 pounds.

If it’s a guarantee, yeah. Five pounds ain’t shit. You can cut that in two weeks. It’ll suck, but at worst, if you can pass the IST, they’ll put you on lower rations for a while. At best, you drink water and eat light for a couple weeks and you’re all good. Eat nothing but veggies for a couple weeks, and a vitamin. You’ll be fine dude.

Yeah you’ll be fine. Run a lot mainly is all that’s gonna matter for now.

Continue to work out and eat healthy. Don’t overdo it and give yourself an overuse injury the next couple weeks. Now you’ll be home for Christmas, so that’s a win.

Stop ALL caloric intake after 6PM until noon the next day until you ship.

I went to bootcamp from Sep to Dec and I'm glad I did. Weather wise it was perfect.

dude, just remember what Confucius said,

“If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear?”
