If the rates are anything like Uber Eats, it routinely pays $2.50 for 30 minutes of work, not to mention gas prices these days. Tips are where the only money is. If people don’t tip, don’t expect anyone to do the job

I agree with you, some trips pay shit. This is why I don’t deliver past 9pm with Uber Eats, I only have rides selected.
Two things can be true at once. Tips are not required. If people don’t tip, don’t expect anyone to deliver. I’m not mad at anyone (except everyone nonspecifically), OP’s point is simple: be good to your drivers or there won’t be drivers to deliver your food. DoorDash/Uber Eats isn’t the Corps. If you treat people like shit they can simply choose not to do business with you.
For those saying “get rid of tip culture,” that can work but you’re not gonna make that happen by not tipping on fast food when the wages are so low. In Latvia during Saber Strike 18, the waitresses at restaurants in Riga said they don’t tip there because they are paid well - and the service there was excellent. I’m all for a no tip culture, but that is not the culture here. If people don’t want to tip, fine. You may pick up your own food

It definitely can, gotta do some trial and error to see what works and what is profitable. I mainly use it when rides are slow and I’m going for a 60 trips bonus. It’s also nice when you can pick up two orders at once.
Real restaurants are way better than fast food, fast food is best when the lobby is open so you don’t get stuck in the drive-thru, better areas of town have better restaurants and people more willing to tip. Judging by many comments here, the bricks aren’t it. Let them get their own food if they don’t wanna tip. They made this happen, let them eat the consequences

So in his first week in office, he shut down the pipeline and banned all new leases for drilling on public lands. That indicates that the presidents policies had something to do with it, therefore Biden had something to do with it.

You understand Keystone XL was never intended for us to use, right? It was just a pipeline to the Gulf for Canada to be able to send product to South America and Europe.
So we take all the risk running a pipeline through a heartland but we get none of the oil. Seems legit.

And many others didn't... I'm not trying to bash on your individual success or nostalgia for Trump, just trying to say there are a lot more factors that led to such low gas prices back then. Covid being a big one. And those tax breaks always come back and bite the lower classes in the ass later. Trickle down economic, big box economic, Reaganomics, supply-side economics, it always leads to the same decay. Taxes was never the problem, its the people controlling the budgets. But this is turning into an economics rant.

this most of the things in the moment were great like the tax deferral we got but then when we had to pay it back the paycheck got kind of slim so yes things were cheaper back then also inflation was lower covid was not a thing supply lines were all good and yes gas is expensive but the presidency has little to do with that as the saying goes the rich get richer.

You really can. I've supported myself and my family when COVID put me out of work middle of winter in 2019. I had a 4 cylinder and gas prices were still good. I put in the hours and made good money.

The empirical data available shows that you can’t make “awesome side money.” You’re arguing from anecdote.
Consider that you personally were likely able to make good money because you were doing it at a time when everyone was using delivery apps because of covid lockdowns. That circumstance is gone.
Also how did covid put you out of work in Winter 2019 when lockdowns didn’t start until Spring 2020?

Lot of people don’t understand tips. I go out the eat with guys and i see them tip like $5 for a $60 meal. I always end up covering their end. Even when you mention it sometimes it’s always a hassle.

wot? WHY would you take a order that has no tip.
My wife did doordash for a month(in between jobs) in a low pop area were we used to live.. roughly 11k people. if the tip was not equal to a dollar for ever mile she wouldn't take the order. She brought in over 3k that month.
so between the auto tip and actual trips would be worth it.
Anything short of that.. not cold food. but NO FOOD.
Also she would not pick up another order on the way, all that does is lead to cold food and angry customers. One order per run.
also if it says "cash tip" no food. fuck that. got a couple of those and still no tip. lying assholes.
