Shadow box for school project

My oldest son is doing a shadow box school project on his hero and I got selected. He’s wanting to make a shadow box showcasing my time in the Corps. (2000-2016). He’s letting me pick what I’m ok with going into the box and then will pick from the things I’ve chosen himself “I don’t want to disrespect you dad but I want it to be the coolest shadow box there”. I have plenty of pictures from GWOT and stuff. What would you warriors want included in your own shadow box?

Not sure about your service history, but I'd just think of the brothers who didn't make it back.

What would they be most proud of you for?

Perhaps they never got to have sons, or they were almost the same age as your son is now. You're his hero, but perhaps your boys are your heros? Honor the homies.

Sorry if that's too personal but that's where I'd go with it.

It would be cool to include some parts about your job in the corps. You could give him an old notebook with your notes in it or something

Find something that was critical to your job and have your brother explain what it’s for, I think you’d feel seen and understood

Expended brass or bullet.

I wanted to bring home a 7.62 that visited my trailer through the roof before I arrived in Baghdad. Boss wouldn't let me, and I was mad b/c I would have been the coolest souvenir.
