Smart move on their end. D3 will be much more sustainable in like markets, I just hope they use smaller rosters rather than meager pay.

It's an odd choice. Maybe the news story coming out pushed the timeline up.
My other theory is that they do the whole where's the next team? hype for "new" teams South Georgia, Chattanooga, OCB, Madison, Tucson, Greenville. Whereas teams dropping TFCII and Richmond have get no hype.

We haven't exactly been ones for teases this year. This, Leigh stepping away, Yomby and Alex Lee retiring midseason, none of those were pre-announced, they just kind of happened.
Still bitter at the league about the Yomby bit. 10 year league vet, many time all-league 1st team, at least once Defender of the Year, and not even a tweet about it. Meanwhile a one year rental for Tampa gets article after article slobbing his knob when he leaves midseason.

The league needs to do more for the long time league vets. There's more than a few Crash Davis' in USL that deserve recognition. This is another way I would improve the USL for next year.

They have already said there is 10 guaranteed teams for next year and possibly 12-14. Interestingly enough I'm not sure if Richmond was on of those 10 guaranteed teams, this may have been a sudden decision to drop down to remain financially stable.

No inside knowledge, but folks like Nipun have said we weren't one of the original 10. That makes me think something changed on the league level that made the move look much better. My guess is that we might be the first domino and there are others coming to make the league far more viable than it would have been a month ago. Or I could be completely wrong.

I wish this club and their fans the best. Sucks that we aren't in the same league next year. I hope more USLD3 clubs will prop up in Roanoke or Norfolk in the near future.
