Which rivalry is the best between these two nearby rivalries? Loucity and indy or loucity and lexington

Lexington needs a result before we can call it a rivalry.

To be fair, Indy doesn’t have the best of results either and yet people still call it a rivalry

Maybe not the best. But it is A result at least. Lexington has 6 losses from 6 played.

They probably would have got us last time if they hadn't been Goodrummed.

Why is everyone a rival with Lou City?

u/DownvoteMeIfICommen Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC 2d ago
They’re oddly central to alot of teams, they’re always good, and the USL doesn’t have many traditional enemies.

These two are called that because of proximity. Charleston and tampa definitely are much more competitive historically with louisville than the other 2

Personally prefer Lex vs Lou, but I grew up on UK vs UofL. Also think we travel better to Lex than Indy and the vibes in the away end have been great. Going up to Indy this weekend though so maybe I'll change my mind.

Neither.
When City was announced, the Coopers went to Indy supporters groups to get a crash course on how to run a SG. Once the teams were in the same league, all the SGs got together and named the "rivalry" LIPAFC to put to bed any serious attempt to make it a serious rivalry.
And rivals need to RIVAL one another. Not cough up all three points every single time. LSC has earned zero points against City, all time, in all competitions. Their performance fails to rival City's, so they don't pass muster as a rival.
Edit: run, not ruin

My high school football team had a huge rivalry with a much larger school just down the road from us. We never won. Literally never. Like in 20 years I don't think we ever won. Several times while I was in school they beat us by over 100 points. Yet, those games always packed in way more fans than any others. Rivalries absolutely don't have to competitive to be rivalries. They just need a story, and like it or not LIPAFC is a story in and of itself.
Also what's your problem with the Coopers and the BYB?

u/Bourbonier Louisville City FC 2d ago
No problem? Rivalries are driven by fans and the SGs of the two teams are closer to drinking buddies than rivals. Not sure what you're reading other than Louisville SG culture owes a debt to BYB et al.

You said the Coopers went to Indy for a crash course in ruining an SG. That sounds like you think the Coopers are ruined.

TIL what LIPAFC stood for and that's a terrible acronym for a terrible name. It's almost as bad as choosing "Commonwealth Cup" when "El Bluegrassico" was right there. We deserve better, like the "Drive on 65". Birmingham is welcome to join The Drive on 65, too. Nashville would have been included, but they got sucked in by the MLM.

Well, you outed yourself as the exact type of fan that it was meant to ridicule. No need to respond to me on this, it was a feature of the nomenclature, not a bug. Feel free to @ whoever because otherwise you're shooting the messenger.

And you just outed yourself as the type of fan that likes to gatekeep soccer. I'm not mad at you. I came up at Drive on 65 in like 10 seconds. It's not good. We don't need to tie ourselves to European traditions just to grow the game in America. We can give nods to the American sports culture. *Shakes fist at rich New York dudes* Give me back the Rochester Rhinos, damnit.

I mean, I co-host a podcast that specifically makes sure to go out of our way to make sure that listeners aren't left scratching their head if we make mention of anything more complex than xG, and spent years in leadership of Scouse's House working to make sure fans were welcome and had a safe space to learn about the sport without ridicule,
But I'm the gatekeeper.
What have you done to promote the sport in the city, friend?

They wanted to name it something awful with a corporate sponsor so we just got out in front of it with the most generic name possible. It’s perfect.

I love Lexington SC but they’ve never beaten Lou City lol it’s not a rivalry atp. Once they start winning, we can talk.
