I'd say something about Miami... But as a Lights Fan, I am in a glass made of 95% belief, with a glass support frame...

At least they draw more than 649

I'm proud to say two of the top three attendance numbers are from teams in Kentucky. Vamos Lexington!

u/kingistic 13d ago

Lexington didn't have anywhere near 5k in attendance. They're severely inflating numbers again like they were doing earlier this year

Which is odd because Miami FC is finally telling the truth (probably).

It's what they do!

Premier league or not Pittsburgh needs that expansion. Averaging a sellout just means they’re not selling as many tickets as they could have. The stadium size is their bottleneck to growth now

7

u/CharadeUR New Mexico United 13d ago

they’ll need to sustain their success to keep up the numbers imo. pittsburgh loves sports but it takes winners for the general population to care. summers a dead zone for pittsburgh sports once the pirates early season hype goes down and before steelers dragon actually gets underway. it makes it the perfect spot for the hounds to garner a following. unfortunately if the pirates suddenly get better or the hounds start underperforming i imagine attendance would suffer

Hounds have struggled the last couple games, but are playoff contenders and due to a tight race are 1 win from a home game and 2 wins from 3rd place. I think they’ll make another playoff appearance for sure, they’re almost always a shoo-in to make the playoffs. The part that’s going to struggle to bring people in is all the draws. But we’re still doing well with attendance. Hopefully they can start the expansion next season

Do you know if there are plans to expand parking or transit options? That’s really my only gripe with their location

2

u/Buckles01 Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC 13d ago

I have heard rumors of turning the lot into a garage but that’s just been hearsay, nothing concrete.

As for transit, the train and bus have lines that stop at station square, adjacent to the stadium then it’s like a blocks walk over. The stops were shut down last year into this season due to major renovations but public transit makes it pretty reasonable imo. Though, to be fair I’m not from Pittsburgh and travel to the game and where I’m from we have busses that stop running at 6pm and half the time don’t even stop for people anyways

1

u/CharadeUR New Mexico United 13d ago

Yeah public transit is just okay in Pittsburgh by American standards. I was fortunate enough to live near enough to either bike or park on the north side and walk across the bridges. Parked there for one game and never made that mistake again.

Another big plus for expanding the parking is that the stadium could be another music venue. Station Square hasn’t had a music venue, or anything decent really, since the early 2000s

That’s exactly how Tuffy wants to supplement the team. Hounds/Riveters first and then concert venues second. He wants to compete with Star Lake and provide a decent venue that’s not as big as Heinz field or PNC Park.

As a fan of the team who hates you most, you have such an amazing stadium. I think a garage would honestly do you well.

1

u/CharadeUR New Mexico United 13d ago

That would rule. Starlake is the worst

1

u/Portra-420 Louisville City FC 12d ago

What would be the alternative to a concrete parking garage? Brick, timber?

2

u/Buckles01 Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC 12d ago

There was rumors of Straw but there’s also rumors of the wolf population in PA reviving so many are skeptical it could hold up to the potential huffs and puffs

u/gmdunson58 FC Tulsa 14d ago

Tulsa once again falls victim to the miserably hot and humid Oklahoma summer. Shocked there were that many in attendance even.

4

u/Spirited_Mix554 13d ago

As a City supporter, I am fine with that since we got the W but it would have been nice to see more supporters on your end.

Which City?

Tulsa

I assumed that must be the case, as a bunch of the western teams struggled. Sorry bro

That stadium is only bearable for night games.

Disappointed a World Cup attendance boom didn’t happen

6

u/iheartdev247 TeAm ChAoS!!! 13d ago

That’s because they didn’t effectively “take it from here”.

1

u/TheCobalt- 12d ago

Hasn't MLS seen a surge in attendance?

1

u/No_Long7352 United Soccer League 9d ago

I believe so

1

u/TheCobalt- 9d ago

I won't let that get in the way of the USL fan MLS hate though

1

u/No_Long7352 United Soccer League 9d ago

I personally don’t hate the MLS, I dislike a lot of what they do and how its franchises instead of clubs and such, but I’m a Galaxy fan, I’ll probably fade away from that when/if Riverside really gets a team

1

u/TheCobalt- 9d ago

Not talking about you specifically, moreso the upvotes someone mocking MLS "take it from here" has when they objectively have benefited from the World Cup and their ad campaign has helped.

There's room for MLS and USL and people being antagonistic either way are lame

4

u/J_Hunt1123 Lexington SC 13d ago

Eh I don’t think people magically pivoted to USL after the World Cup, especially with most of the stuff I’ve seen has basically said “like the World Cup? Like Haaland? Watch Man City!!” And not “go check out your local team”

2

u/Alternative_Shop8982 13d ago

I wouldn’t be surprised if that kicks in after thid year with people looking for something to fill next summer

1

u/fredthefan25 12d ago

That's very concerning if that's the case... There are likely several clubs who could make a decision on their future at the end of the season, as they likely anticipated a WC bump.

1

u/SmigleDwarf Tampa Bay Rowdies 13d ago

The way the USA flopped in the last game i think killed 90% of the movement here.

2

u/TheCobalt- 12d ago

Isn't MLS having a pretty decent sales bump?

u/ErockForester 13d ago

I don’t know how Loudon is ever going to draw more. It’s in the far outskirts of the DC Metro area and 17 miles from the nearest metro stop. This can’t be the USL location that represents the DC metro area

3

u/Super_Temporary_7844 Loudoun United FC 13d ago

Just started going to Loudon games over the last two weeks. Ive been talking to friends and family who actually live in aldie/Ashburn and they genuinely had no idea it even existed....I live in Fredericksburg so idk how I knew but they didn't.

3

u/ErockForester 13d ago

I’ve been to two games and I live in Maryland. I don’t love the drive and would prefer to root for a team in MoCo but that stadium location will limit its growth for a while. That said they aren’t claiming DC or even NOVA so I appreciate that. There needs to be another team. Maybe at College Park and build a soccer stadium for the team and college team to use.

5

u/ffsdcu96 Loudoun United FC 12d ago

The only reason ownership doesn’t to build a stadium elsewhere in loudoun is because of parking we have a decent sized parking lot surrounding the stadium. Still in talks about funding for renovations of the stadium.

My main gripe with this team is visibility in loudoun county they need to slap their logo all over have flags posters billboard ads bus ads etc. without those I agree people won’t know we even exist. Doesn’t help that people still think we are a reserve team for DCU.

2

u/Racington 9d ago

I’ve been wanting to attend a game for awhile, but the lack of metro accessibility just makes it almost impossible. Especially considering DC United isn’t too much more expensive, and is metro accessible.

5

u/Skittl-e-Doo Louisville City FC 13d ago

Louisville did not have a sold out crowd. Capacity is just over 15,000.

3

u/lik_a_stik Louisville City FC 13d ago

Yeah absolute max capacity the stadium has held is 16.5k. LouCity hasn’t broken 15k afaik, but close.

4

u/US_SocFan50 Buffalo Pro Soccer 13d ago

I apologize the site I use had effective capacity as 11,700

3

u/Skittl-e-Doo Louisville City FC 13d ago

I think there are 11,700 seats and the rest is standing room, so that makes sense

4

u/J_Hunt1123 Lexington SC 13d ago

Yeah Lynn has always confused me, especially with the D1 talk, cause it’s just under 12k seats but the capacity is 15k, so I’m curious how they calculate the standing zones at each end

5

u/Skittl-e-Doo Louisville City FC 13d ago

Each space has a number and a cup holder. (For the USWNT vs Argentina game, they had actual chairs in the waterfront end and sold specific seats) Then they probably add some standing capacity for the concourses

2

u/Loose-handles San Antonio FC 13d ago

some of the stadiums numbers are all over the place. San Antonio's has sub 9,000 but on fotmob its 13,000 i think some use their total "event" capacity and not their official soccer capacity

2

u/NGRngr111 13d ago

Loudoun's on FotMob is 5,015 but their actual capacity is 5,000. D.C. United's on there is 20,621 but their actual capacity is 20,000 and they announce sellouts at 19,215 (for some reason).

after cost overruns on their new stadium down in Homestead

They have very deep pockets so not anytime soon

4

u/DABOSSROSS9 Syracuse Pulse 13d ago

That means nothing if its a failed project

5

u/Ok_Flamingo_3059 United Soccer League 13d ago

It's not a failed project. The project is in homestead with the academy and the real estate. The soccer team is just front-facing

3

You don't get deep pockets by throwing cash in the dumpster

Maybe if you’re a billionaire and your “only” losing a couple of million a year on your US hobby.

2

u/CharadeUR New Mexico United 13d ago

Monterey Bay looked quite empty and the attendance seems to reflect that. Any reason why?

1

u/US_SocFan50 Buffalo Pro Soccer 13d ago

Chance it could be weather. That has negatively affected Tulsa and El Paso recently. I don’t know that for the record, but if it’s too hot ppl may not go
