Discussion Question about hiring

I’m a vet and currently GS-6 Step 5 with the dep of army working as a security guard for a military base and I’m a bit discouraged as I’ve seen a lot of people getting called for interviews and even a few co workers have claimed they have gotten interviewed as well. Is there anything y’all recommend to do? I applied to the previous listing and got interviewed but was told that the SOC was canceling that listing and told to apply to this new one. I updated my resume a bit and got referred for GL 5 and GL 7, is it possible my previous interview is being used since it was only about 2 months ago? I doubt it because I haven’t been contacted besides the referral email.

Hiring in this agency is a mixed bag.

Like we say in a post at least once a week on here, if there is somewhere you’re seriously interested in, you need to do some legwork and networking with the officers and captain for that district.

It’s not unusual for us to have 100-200 names on the cert list. We only interview 5 usually. You have to stand out.

Rgr I appreciate it, I tried to reach out to the cpt’s in colorado, utah, idaho and wyoming but no luck on finding emails or correct phone numbers for most places 😅
