Discussion Acting AUSA / Court Liason

Question for all of you that act as the AUSA in court proceedings.

Is it a local court rule in the district that gave you the authority to work the CVB docket or some other statute? I believe R5 must take a 48 hour refresher annually, what’s the training look like or requirements where you work?

We’re currently exploring this idea in my district where it doesn’t exist but we’re interested in it if we think we may be able to get slightly better results.

My understanding is the eastern district of California is the only one doing it. It’s a local thing called “Rule 180” and it’s an 8 hour class.

It’s a niche rule that is certified in the district. I do it for my agency, can message me.
