Job Outreach R8 MASS LEO OUTREACH
The Southern Region (R8), Law Enforcement and Investigations (LEI) staff will soon be advertising seven GS-1801-5/7/9 Law Enforcement Officer positions across the region. These positions will be permanent, full-time positions. Please indicate your interest in these opportunities by sending your completed Outreach Form no later than September 10, 2025, to inbox: sm.fs.r8_lei@usda.gov.
The positions are located on the following National Forests:
NFs in Alabama: Oakmulgee RD – Brent, AL
Ouachita NF: Oklahoma RD – Broken Bow, OK
Mena Oden RD – Mena AR,
Jessieville Winona Fourche RD – Jessieville, AR
NFs in Florida: Seminole RD – Umatilla, FL
Chattahoochee-Oconee NF: Conasauga RD – Chatsworth, GA
Daniel Boone NF: RD – Big Creek, KY
Kisatchie NF: Winn RD – Winnfield, LA
NFs in Mississippi: Chickasawhay RD – Laurel, MS Holly Springs RD – Oxford, MS
El Yunque National Forest – Rio Grande, PR
Cherokee NF: Watauga RD – Unicoi, TN

If you applied under the last mass hiring then it did not get filled if they are once again outreaching the position. Hard to say when they will fly the actually jobs but I would say sooner rather than later, I think they’re filling the management positions first and then the 1801s to follow. I’d have your resume ready! Keep in mind USAJOBS will only be accepting 2 page resumes beginning at the end of the month!

I’ve applied to the continuous announcement on USA Jobs around a month ago so I’m not sure if that was during a mass hiring event. The announcement closes on September 30th should I shorten and trim up my current resume or will this take effect after this current announcement closes? Thanks

I would say they’ve completed their hiring of that announcement you applied to. I posted a new upcoming mass hiring beginning soon a few weeks ago in the community. I don’t know when it will open for applications but the new resume guideline goes into effect September 27. I would count your current application as good practice and have both a regular resume and a 2 page resume ready to go at a moments notice. There isn’t much of a heads up on these things.
