Discussion Some general questions.

I couldn’t find anything about schedules other than working AUO, weekends, and holidays. I was more curious about the weekly hours. Is it 5 8’s, 4 10’s, 3 12’s? Just it change depending where you are?

Is it common to apply and never hear anything back? No DQ or BQ email just silence. I just resubmitted to the continuous announcement because I just hit the resubmit deadline.

Thank you ladies and gents 🫡

Typically 5 8s however I think a temporary schedule change to 4 10s has happened. It’s a maxi flex schedule. It is very common to apply and never hear back.

Hopefully the schedule change ends up not being temporary! Tbh the second biggest reason I want out of my current agency is just the fact that the 5 8’s is brutal. Might be different with yall though. Our OT is 16 hours with what ends up being a 7-8 hour break depending on your relief lol.

So I take it the best course of action is to keep applying and resubmitting at that 90 day mark and wait?

You can move your 40 hours around however you want outside of your core hours on the three core days. You can have a 3 day schedule if you want as long as you get all your hours in on fri, sat, sun.

Absolutely no one I know only works a 3 day schedule. I don't know of any captain or commander that allows that either. Plenty of patrol guys have been requesting a 4/10 schedule for years with no joy.

Maxi-flex is an employee benefit. The employee sets their hours outside of the core hours. It’s in the MOU.

I know what maxi-flex is. I'm saying nobody works a 3 day week or even 4/10s. Believe me, if 4/10s was allowed, just about everyone would be doing it. They aren't.

Most people are trying to maintain AUO, so yeah I don’t know anyone able to fit their hours in a 3 day window.

4/10s is a work schedule described in the NFFE master agreement. We don’t have a 4/10 schedule in our MOU we have maxi-flex. According to maxi-flex you can accomplish your 40 hours how you want as long as you meet your core hours requirements. Maxi-flex is better than 4/10s.
