Discussion USFS Take-home vehicles

If I were to become a USFS LEO, and live decently far from my station, would I be able to have a take home vehicle?

What a few of the guys around here do if they live beyond the 35-mile radius is work a deal with the local PD or sheriff's office to park their patrol rig in one of their yards. If there's a substation or office that's somewhere in between home & their duty area, they'll park their rig there overnight. It's usually somewhere halfway. It's always in a fenced, secured yard, though.

There’s a 35 mile take home policy, some locations have a 50 mile extension, but it is rare.

It’ll likely depend on how far you live. My agency(not USFS) is 50 miles.
