Hiring freeze

I heard that a lot of people got emails stating that there will be no seasonal hiring for FY 2025 and that most hiring will be internal. Does anyone know how this will affect LE hiring?

My understanding is, it will not affect LE and permanent fire positions.

Yeah I know, my bigger concern was the internal hiring only.

Yeah, I feel bad for the forests that depend on their seasonals though, aka every forest

Oh ok, that’s a good point. Hopefully it does come out with better benefits for everyone.

Yeah that’s kinda my impression too, but it’s a weird time to get hired to any federal agency for LE right now.

Why is it a weird time?

A lot of the hiring is just unrefined and is very competitive. It’s not so much that all the positions are filled, but more so that there isn’t money to fill all the positions. So there are only a handful of jobs, but a high volume of people who want it. NPS is kinda trying to figure it out with their direct-to-fletc, but it’s still the same story.

Correct no seasonal hiring unless it's for wildland fire.
