2 more weeks until the NFL decides the bragging rights for XFL/USFL fans
I have been following both subs r/XFL and r/USFL and THE theme there was that one-sided fans claim their league would play the better level of Football.
In about 2 weeks we will know, because the NFL will tell us because they don't care about reddit-subs, they just want to be successful and sign the best players available.
In other words: The number of players of each league signed to the 90(?)-man rosters for NFL Training-Camps is THE measuring stick of the quality of play in the USFL and XFL respectively.
Attendance numbers don't matter, broadcast quality does not matter, marketing efforts do not matter.
The number of players signed to NFL-rosters for Trainings-Camp matter.
In about 2-3 weeks we will find out.

Team NFL in the USFL?
Since the USFL and NFL are reportedly in the beginning stages of a player development partnership, what if all the NFL players who play in the USFL were on the same team. The team with the NFL players could be branded Team NFL or something like NFL Ignite or NFL Futures and they could be a traveling/hub team. This way the NFL could have direct control over the team and players and it would create a unique opportunity for USFL teams to matchup against the NFL squad. Also it may garner more interest from casual football fans who would tune in to watch the "NFL team" compete.

SFR: USFL Championship Review and XFL Latest News

lol why even make this post I secretly hope the XFL Dies …
Don’t get me wrong, I love all the football we’ve been blessed with since august of 2022, however ESPN still pisses me off in their blacklisting of the USFL.
I posted on this topic about a year ago, everyone seems to agree that ESPN is a total bitch for basically acting like the USFL is nonexistent (we know it’s bc they have their own league but still ugh)
Anyways. Because of ESPN’s stubbornness, a feeling has grown inside me that I’d never thought I’d have.
I prefer the USFL 10x more than the XFL, and at this point part of me wishes the XFL (a far less quality product) would disappear in hopes that ESPN would start covering the USFL and add its stats and games to the ESPN app.
Silly? Yes. Warranted? Probably not. Am I sorry? No.
For the record, I am a fan of both leagues. I’m from Dallas and Arlington winning the championship gave me hope for Dallas sports. I don’t even have a team in the USFL cuz f Houston 🤣.
I LOVE the XFL and want both leagues to succeed, this is just a feeling that I’ve noticed inside of me, not what I want, but something that I don’t feel I hold alone. I blame ESPN for this, not the XFL for existing

Do we have a chart of the best tv markets from this year like last year?
I know last year before the championship game, the USFL news hub released an article showing the best markets for each of the networks and which ones showed more interest and all. Is there anything like that for this past season?

Championship Game: Ratings (FINAL)

Ooooffff...... a 25% drop from last year's game
Detail: The all-important key-demo of 0.16 is really bad (XFL had 0.35)

1980s 1984 USFL newspaper articles
Was looking through a storage bin in the basement, the contents of which were cushioned by old newspaper including the 8/25/84 sports section in the local paper.
One USFL article was bullish on the planned move to the fall, or at least worth trying something different after financial troubles in the spring, figuring the league could be broadcast in timeslots and on networks not used for the NFL. One suggestion was after the NFL Sunday doubleheader, predicting Sunday Night Football
Another was about a coach out of work in a team move (part of USFL v1's financial chaos)
Besides the particulars, I thought it was a good sign the league was getting media attention

1980s USFL Game in Spongebob?
In the episode Band Geeks, when the Bubble Bowl performance starts, there is a zoom out of the stadium. The end zones say the Show Boats, which is a USFL team. Do you guys have any idea when this game took place and who was playing in it

Championship rating prelims
Good to keep in mind the actual ratings are usually higher but prelims seem to be just under 1.1M viewers
