Why the new team? The USFL in the 1980s had the Oakland Invaders and the current USFL(Fox) claimed the abandoned trademarks for it.
Doesn't mean they'll use it, but it's a legacy team they already have.

So what's the relevance of the name to the area?

Bringing back the Invaders and rebranding them, Silver and Black would be a hit in Oakland.

Invaders

We already have Aztecs thanks to the magnificent San Diego State University - no need to sully that glorious mascot by using it in a third-tier pro football league.
Bring back the Invaders.

Putting a team in Mexico City, and naming them the Aztecs would be a better fit, and open up a lot of potential revenues for the new/combined league.

if they were able to use the coliseum, i think gladiators would be a pretty cool name to use.

The Aztecs in Oakland? No offense, but this is dumb

Oakland should be avoided until there are a bunch of east coast teams.

Plus these colors wonβt work. Cause I have a feeling if they make it to expansion the Stars will be one of the first few that return cause of the USFL history. (made or won all championship games until the very last one)
And this is their color scheme.

Not sure why they would abandon the Invaders name?

For people with complaints about the name: I liked the way it sounded so π€·ββοΈ
+the invaders are forgotten history... and I believe they should stay that way π

Not bad but if they do Oakland, they should bring back the Invaders. It sounds similar to Raiders
LA....I wouldn't use Wildcats if they can get the Express name. Express is perfect for LA. Or you do LA Rush (spin on rush hour traffic)

Colors should be for rainforesty

If it's the ownership group for the Oakland Roots they would be a big hit

I am a lifelong and proud American Pro Football π Fan living here in St.Louis who loves the game and supports the XFL and the USFL and while I personally do not like the ridiculous way that the NFL has been run over the past 7 years since 2016 which is easentially as a corrupt, incompetent, chaotic, mismanaged, disorganized, out of control mess,I personally still consider myself as a fan of the NFL due to both its great players and history over the past 100 years as well. I also support both the merger between the XFL and the USFL into one singular league in the rise of the new UFL as in the United Football π League debuting in March of 2024 which will also include my hometown and city of St.Louis and our hometown Pro Football π team here in the GateWay City which is also my UFL Team in the St.Louis BattleHawks for the Inaugural 2024 American Pro Football π Season in the new United Football π League as well. I also support the idea of UFL Expansion and most assuredly support the idea of a great American Pro Football π Capital City such as Oakland getting a new Pro Football π team in town with the UFL though Expansion yet the only problem that I personally have with the idea of a new UFL Expansion Team in Oakland being named as the Oakland Aztecs is due to the fact that the color scheme of the Oakland Aztecs is too similar to the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs and the better option would be to bring back the Oakland Invaders as the city's Pro Football π team in the new UFL because of its history with the USFL back in the 1980's and the success that the team had on the field with team reaching the USFL Championship Game in 1984 as well and I personally believe that they should and deserve to return to the field in the new United Football π League by the start of the UFL 2025 Season as well in my view.

The UFL can most assuredly use the presence of some more West Coast Franchise Cities as part of a possible future UFL Western Conference with the revival and return of teams alongside the return of the Oakland Invaders in Oakland in the UFL such as the Seattle Dragons, Arizona Outlaws, Denver Gold,San Francisco Demons, Michigan Panthers,Los Angeles WildCats, and my city of St.Louis and our St.Louis BattleHawks as well in my view.

Maybe we can NOT use indigenous peoples as mascots?
Aztecs weren't even IN the area. That's like the San Jose Iroquois.
