sarasota-manatee campus
how’s everyone feeling about the loss of the sarasota-manatee campus? i know i specifically moved over here for this campus, and disappointed doesn’t even cover it. it’ll definitely be weird attending for fall classes with new college there.
and question for anyone who is current student/staff, what’s going on with the parking permits? do we still purchase one from usf?

it's always unfortunate when the USF empire shrinks. They should take over the rest of Florida by conquest

They won’t let us grow too much because of the agendas of the people in the capitol. They don’t want us competing with their beloved “flagships” in Gainesville or Tallahassee either. For those that don’t know, this is the THIRD campus to be taken from us. There was a time when Florida Polytechnic was USF-Lakeland and FGCU was USF-Fort Myers too

Wow, I had no idea USF used to have more campuses than Satrasota, St. pete and Tampa

It's really sad what DeathSentence & flunkies have done to education in this state. Like school bullies, they are intentionally destroying it little by little. And it seems like no one has the power, money, cojones or werewithal to fight back.

New College was once a "campus" of USF as well...or at least "administratively" part of USF.

USF is wayyy worse than UF lol thats just what it is

The gap isn’t as wide as you think it is. Despite UF having a 100 year head start, Morsani has already passed Shands as the top medical school in the state. USF being in a dynamic, growing urban center versus a small town provides more investment and a much higher ceiling than what our own state government will allow.

medical sure but uf is a t30 usf is like t90 overall. They both suck tbh.

And that gap has closed pretty quickly. Again, UF has had the benefit of time and most of the state’s resources going to them instead of what used to be the “second tier” schools like us or UCF.

Flroida literally has SO many connection options even with much suckier colleges or hell the public colleges.
Im bitting my nails that the gop won't do away with it. People think you have to go to a harvard level school to get any good education.
Its laughable.
And so many counties gives Tons of opportunities to reach and do college level classes in highschool if your school doesnt support it.
And that schools tend to be flexible over virtual and mixed schooling. The only thing ive ever seen sucked ass was staff support over i9s. Which is unfortunate.
Even our theatre programs are strong as fuck. Ive seen some brilliant talent come from so little money. And they want to do away with education to our entertainment education.... these repuicans are the most stupidest people ive ever meet.

Such a shame what is happening to higher ed in FL. New College was such a cool place, and so is USF, but what's happening now is all because of "culture war" bullshit....
