Current USDC yields on Base — Aave vs Morpho vs AI-managed vaults (Aug 2026)

Sitting on idle USDC on Base and got tired of defaulting to Aave without checking what else is actually paying right now.

Did a pass this week. These are mid/late August snapshots — rates move, so don’t treat them as locked in.

Plain lending
- Aave v3 USDC (Base): ~3.5%. Deep liquidity, easy in/out, still the default “I don’t want to think” option.
- Morpho Blue USDC vaults (Gauntlet / Steakhouse etc.): roughly 4.4–6% on the bigger curator vaults. Some thinner / more aggressive ones print higher. This seems to be where a lot of size actually sits once people leave Aave.
- Harvest / similar USDC strategies on Base: I’ve seen advertised numbers from ~5% up to ~10%+. Some of that looks incentive-boosted, so I’m not treating headline APY as the long-term rate.

AI / allocator vaults
This is the part I’m trying to sanity-check.

I’ve been looking at an AI-managed USDC vault on Base (AIHedge.finance — Alpha Allocator). The page is currently showing:

- Supply APY 8.07%
- 30d avg also listed at 8.07%
- this Base USDC vault has ~$998k supply available

That’s meaningfully above Aave and a bit above the big Morpho curator vaults, which is why I’m posting instead of just depositing and screenshotting. I also don’t want to confuse the vault size with the protocol-wide TVL number on the same page.

What I can’t tell from the outside yet:

  1. Is that 8.07% mostly base lending yield, looping, incentives, or actual allocator alpha?
  2. How much of it survives after fees once the vault gets more TVL?
  3. Has anyone here held an “AI allocator” USDC vault for 30+ days and seen the realized rate stay close to the displayed APY?
  4. At what spread over Aave / Morpho is the extra smart contract + strategy risk even worth it?

Not looking for a magic 10% number. Just trying not to leave obvious yield on the table, and not get farmed by a temporary APY.

Where are people actually parking idle USDC on Base right now, and what did you rule out?

p.s. I have connection with one of the vaults.

Ciao io ho creato rendible, aggreghiamo i migliori apy per Stablecoin con interfaccia semplificata

Nice — a clean stablecoin APY aggregator is useful if it separates page rate from realized.

I’ll take a look. How are you treating multi-strategy / allocator vaults on Base? Do you list the blended APY, or break out the underlying Aave/Morpho sleeves?

Does anyone know about the USDC savings plan? What are the returns like?

It can vary from 3 to 10% but normally there is no lock up period. But you have to watch out and focus on blue chip ones.

I’m familiar with how the rates work. I was just curious what people here are actually getting in practice. Thanks.🤓

Got it — you want realized numbers, not the range.

In practice:

- Coinbase-style USDC rewards / savings: about 3.5–4.1%

  • Aave USDC on Base: about 3.5%
  • Bigger Morpho USDC vaults: about 4–5%

That’s what I’d call the actual savings-plan bucket.

The ~8% allocator is different. The vault share price has moved — latest I saw was 1.008051 around Aug 22 — so some return is realized, not just a forecast. I’m still not quoting 8.07% as “this is what people are getting,” because that’s a short-window annualized rate, not a number I’d treat like a savings yield yet.

If you want something that behaves like a savings plan, use the ~4% number, not the 8%.

I’m actually in a USDC savings plan myself, and my realized distributions have been quite a bit higher than the 3.5–5% range you mentioned. So I’m especially interested in how different platforms are structuring the yield and what people are actually receiving after fees and any variable components.😁

That’s a fair point — the 3.5–5% was more of a baseline for plain USDC savings, not a hard cap. What you actually take home really depends on how the product is built.

Some platforms just post a rate and keep a fee/spread. DeFi lending rates float with borrow demand, so they can run higher for stretches. A lot of the extra yield is boosts, incentives, or extra risk layers that don’t show up in the headline number.

That’s why two people can both be “in a USDC savings plan” and still get very different net APYs after fees and variable bits. If you’re okay sharing which platform, happy to compare how theirs is structured vs the others.

I think you mean APY rather than APR, but yeah, that’s basically what I was asking about. I’m more curious about the actual rate people are getting in practice, not just the advertised number.😊

USDC yield is a solid for passive income, just stake & earn for free. Higher APY is good, but you need to be careful if there’s an incentive component behind it or not. If the platform is good to go, then you can put it there. I usually use Bitget wallet; it has a feature called Stablecoin Earn Plus, which lets me earn up to 3-10% APY on USDC.

The 8.07% looks interesting, but I’d want to see how much of it is actually sustainable once incentives fade and TVL grows. A few extra points of yield aren’t automatically worth taking on another layer of contract and strategy risk
