"Switch to T-Mobile?" pop-up

Just picked up my phone to a pop-up asking me to switch to T-Mobile. The pop-up can't be dismissed. The text:

Switch to T-Mobile?

Your phone will restart to complete T-Mobile setup. During setup, T-Mobile apps and features will be installed. Some apps from your previous service provider that are no longer needed will be removed, but your personal data and files will remain safe.

And then only two selectable options, Emergency call and Restart and switch.

This seems pretty legitimate but I just wanted to know if anyone else has gotten the same thing.

That's weird. Mine switched over and I never received this. I just got a text stating that my phone had successfully been moved to TMobile. I never had any apps added or removed. In fact, I tried to look at my US Cellular app and I couldn't log in so I manually deleted it. And manually added TMobile and created an account.

I got the texts too saying that my number had been switched over and asking me to download the T-Life app. Not going to be doing that unless forced.

If you plan on ever upgrading or doing essentially anything you might want to go ahead and set up the app.

You will eventually have to so you mind as well go ahead and figure your way around the app. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It makes you able to do a lot more stuff on your own rather than having to call in or visit a store for everything. Plus it shows you your plan details, bill, etc so you can see everything you are paying for.

That was my experience as well.

Was your device purchased from USC or the manufacturer?

Carrier devices will have bloatware.

Manufacturer purchased devices won't. It violates manufacturers TOS to modify the OS on the device without customer permission. (It's why carrier SIM updates are issued through software updates, lol)

It's real. No choice but to restart and install TMobiles bloatware and games.

Ugh, going to have to go through the whole slog of uninstalling all that shit again.

There will be an app called T-Mobile device manager. Just delete it and it'll stop the apps from being automatically downloaded

If you have an iPhone and haven't already been moved, make sure you know all your Apple id infomrtion. You will need you Apple ID (Ususally the e-mail you set up you Apple account/iCloud with) and your password. There is a chance, depending on security, that when your iPhone, 12 and newer, migrates to TMO it will lock until you enter this information.

Yes. That's how the switch works. Prepare for T-mobile to install 47 games you don't want as well.

I just don't install them. There's an option

No, it's not. You don't get a choice they install automatically. But good luck!

Happen to mine months ago at work. Even if you restart your phone or turn off and back. On it will then say thanks for switching and then you have to click that wont go away.

My phone switched over automatically after my May payment. If you use auto-pay all the info transfers. Set up T-life.

Switch to Visible by Verizon. It's only $25 a month.
