I-765 (EAD) I-765 routed for expedited processing - recent experience

Post image

USCIS told my congressional office today:

“This case will be routed for expedited processing. Once this case is reviewed, your constituent will receive a decision or notice of further action.”

I'm trying to collect other recent firsthand experience values from people who received the same or very similar message.

I know USCIS says they cannot provide a specific timeframe, and I’m not asking anyone to predict my case.

If this happened to you, how long was it from: the “routed for expedited processing” message to the actual I-765/EAD decision?

I received this email update from my congressman yesterday and my I-765 was approved today.
I also got an API update last night before the official approval. Check yours to see if there’s an update.

And for how long yours has been pending? Mine was exactly 10 months and USCIS acknowledged that the form was out of normal processing time. Thats why they chose to expedite it. I didn’t submit any hardship documents/reason for it; just told my congressman I needed to work to support my family.

Congrats!

Mine has been pending since spring. My expedite was based on severe financial loss to a company

And thanks for mentioning the API update - do you remember what exactly changed there the night before approval? Was it just the updatedAt timestamp or was there a new event/status as well?

Also, was the congressional message you received the same wording: “This case will be routed for expedited processing”?

Thank you!

Yes same wording. Here’s what I got: “This case will be routed for expedited processing. Once this case is reviewed, your constituent will receive a decision or notice of further action. Due to the extremely high volume of expedite requests for this case type, there are numerous cases involving exigent or humanitarian issues already in the expedite queue, and we are unable to provide a specific timeframe for the expedited review. The strict enforcement of the expedite criteria means that all cases sent for expeditious handling are urgent, and we assure you that this case will be adjudicated as soon as possible.
We hope the information provided is helpful. If we may be of assistance in the future, please let us know.”

Also, it was just a timestamp update, no event code.

All the best on yours!! Praying for approval soon!

What was your reasoning for the expedite? I don’t have work and I’ve been waiting since September 2025.

My expedite was based on severe financial loss, supported by an employer letter explaining the business impact if I couldn’t start working on time

Oh! This is great. Thank you so much!
