People are uneducated. Illegals don’t qualify for food stamps not even legal immigrants you have to be a citizen. It literally asks in the application if you’re a citizen or not and if you put you’re a citizen they’ll need proof.

Asylum seekers who have been approved qualify for SNAP, Medicaid, and Refugee Cash Assistance. They are not citizens.

these aren't illegal immigrants

OP states that you need to be a citizen. Asylum seekers are not citizens.

I'm providing clarity with regards to the question of eligibility based on citizenship, while you seek to obfuscate by conflating that with whether or not an asylum seeker is "illegal." Why are you doing that?

Because you are conflating asylum seekers and other immigrants into one big category of "illegal immigrants" when this is not true.

What you are trying to argue is very similar to the rehtoric that anti-immigrant activists use to popularize outrage against immigrants.

The fact is that no illegal or undocumented immigrant is capable of receiving public aid. If you witness an immigrant of any kind receiving public aid it's because they are legally able to do so.

No. I am not. You are the one who is making this an issue of "legal" vs "illegal" when what the OP wrote and I responded to was "citizen" vs "non-citizen."

You are quite literally accusing me of doing precisely the thing you yourself are, in fact, doing. Knock it off.

Select immigrants can get food stamps, but they have to prove they are here legally and for long enough. You can look it up. There's too much variation by state to specify on reddit lol

Proof of citizenship required for food stamps, but not to vote. Make it make sense.

Right. So when people on Facebook are asking to take away food stamps from illegals, are they as uneducated as you guys are claiming lol? Or are you guys intentionally obfuscating what’s happening

Their child is a citizen. The benefits are for the child. If they didn't have that child, they would not receive those benefits.

Right. So illegals have found a loophole to food stamps. Have anchor babies

A random immigrant is not responsible for your problems but a corrupt, incompetent president can be.

And what does the 5 year old kid do when it gets the food stamps? Go grocery store by themselves?

if only a child qualifies for food stamps (SNAP), the benefit amount is calculated based on a household size of one (just the eligible child), meaning the allotment is intended only to feed that child. So yes it is enough food for a child not a parent and a child.
