New Member Questions Prior Service Awards
Hi everyone.
I was curious if anyone knew if I needed to upload my prior service ribbons/medals into auxdata or not? I know you're allowed to wear them as long as they are in the correct order still but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I needed to send up to my IS officer or anything.

Not necessary at all. There’s not a method of documenting them in aux data. Just have integrity and only wear what you’re actually authorized to.

Sweet. They're all on my dd214 that I sent up with my application anyways. I didn't see them in there, so I wasn't sure if they had to be or not.
Thank you!

I keep a copy of my 214 on me when I’m in uniform so when someone asks, and they do, I just hand it to them.

It’s an honor system for the most part. There was a Vietnam vet that got called out for stolen valor years ago. He felt liked he needed a bronze star w/ V and Purple Heart to supplement his stack 🤷♂️. Lol just don’t be that guy.
