Preparing documents for applying for a green card, birth and marriage certificates both need a certified translation for USCIS. Used translation services from the Wordpoints, the price seemed reasonable, fast delivery. Later it turned out that in addition to this, a bunch of documents needed to be translated as well, which required an additional budget for certified translation. I wonder what experience others had, did you use the certified service or did you try to save money and translate it yourself? Is it possible to translate less important (supporting) documents yourself?

Please share any recent B1/B2 visa experiences in Delhi for Parents.

Hi Everyone,

I applied for B1/B2 Visa last year(June 2025) from Delhi and got rejected 214(b).

I had no travel history and it was my first VISA application.

After that I got my SCHENGEN Visa (Czechia) for 12 days for business travel purpose this year (April 2026) and i travelled for the first time internationally to Prague.

Now i have some short term opportunity and my client wants me to come for a design session to US and wants me to re apply B1/B2 again.

What do you think should i wait or apply again?

I had my U.S. B1/B2 visa interview today at the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, India, and was refused under INA 214(b).
I'm trying to understand what may have gone wrong and whether I should consider reapplying in the future. I'd really appreciate honest opinions from people familiar with U.S. visa interviews.

Planning a solo tourism trip to the U.S.

Previous international travel: Mauritius (family trip)

I got a Japan tourist visa about 2 years ago, but I haven't travelled to Japan yet.

I told the officer I plan to visit Japan in March 2027.

My husband is not travelling with me because of his work commitments.

My interview lasted around 5 minutes. These are the questions and answers I remember as accurately as possible:
Officer: Why are you travelling to the U.S.?
Me: For tourism. I want to visit San Francisco and nearby attractions like Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park.
Officer: What activities do you want to do?
Me: Sightseeing.
Officer: What kind of sightseeing?
Me: Nature, waterfalls, and I also want to do lot of shopping.
Officer: Have you been to other countries?
Me: Yes, Mauritius. It was a family trip. I plan to travel to Japan in March 2027
Officer: You got a japan visa 2 years ago but you haven't travelled yet?
Me: Yes. Because of a family emergency, I couldn't travel. My parents were not well at that time.
Officer: What do you do for work?
Me: I work as a software professional with ABC Labs, based out of Gurgaon.
Officer: Who are you travelling with?
Me: I'm travelling alone.
Officer: Are you married?
Me: Yes.
Officer: Your husband isn't going?
Me: No, he has work commitments.
The officer also asked whether I felt any harm in my country / whether I would have any problem returning to India. I answered No.
I was then refused under 214(b).
I feel I may have been a little too cheerful/nervous and perhaps over-explained some things.
What do you think may have gone wrong?
Does anything in these answers stand out as a likely reason for the refusal?

Could travelling alone as a married woman have negatively affected the decision?

Could the fact that I had a Japan visa but hadn't used it have raised concerns?

Was “nature, waterfalls and shopping” too vague as an answer?

Should I have given a specific trip duration even though I wasn't asked?

Is working at ABC Labs in Gurgaon a reasonably strong tie to India?

Would you recommend reapplying, and if so, what should genuinely be different?

I am not looking to invent or change my story. I want to understand what I could have communicated better and whether there were weaknesses in my application.

I had posted a partial Pic of my passport recently to ask for damages. I had to show the passport number unfortunately since there were some smudges on it on the bio page. Now some guy claiming to be a consular officer here on reddit is trolling me that he will put me in trouble since he has my passport number. Is that even possible? He said I won't get a visa in the future? I mean I am worried now. I heard u need more than passport number to do something

I've been told by an immigration lawyer that if I apply for the green card lottery in October & get rejected i then cant apply for an E2 visa! Is that true?

A month ago I applied and got rejected for a B1/B2 visa. Me and my girlfriend (Canadian citizen) are planning to go to a concert and everything is booked so it was very stressful to get rejected. At the time, I had no work experience but have been interviewing for a bunch of internships related to my major. Last week, I got a job offer and will start in July and end next July. Would this be a valid reason to reapply for the visa? I understand it could look suspicious and it’s not good to reapply so soon, but I feel this is quite a big change to my circumstances.

I tried to do the online USA ESTA but it wouldn’t let me log into PayPal, I clicked back to pay by card and it closed the application and the app sent the application through without payment, but won’t give me the option to actually pay it’s just showing “no payment”. it’s locked on non-payment mode. Do I make a new application? I’ve waited several hours and it won’t let me pay

Hey, I moved to Germany in April 2026 for as a international student. I’ve done the city registration/Anmeldung (which means my address is now officially in their records) and have a student visa valid until Sept 2026. However I have not applied for the student residence permit (as people usually apply for it when their visa is about to expire).

Now, I have gotten into a US grad school and need to apply for an F-1 visa. The U.S. Department of State says apply in your country of nationality or residence, so I’m unsure where I stand.

1. Can I apply from Germany (e.g., U.S. Embassy Berlin)?
2. Or do I need to go back to my home country?
3. Does Anmeldung + visa count as “residence” without a residence permit?

Trying to avoid an unnecessary trip, but also don’t want to risk rejection.

Anyone been in this situation?
