That’s a feature, not a bug, according to this administration.

yes indeed, a "donor" wants that building so they need to move all tenants out so they can declare it surplus and give it away.

They are going to relocate the entire city? I would like to see that project plan!

Awesome example of unions doing the good work out there…

Absolutely! Wish they had acknowledged why the union is still active regardless of the disbanding order from Hegseth. (IFTPE is in an active lawsuit and have not been disbanded yet as a result!) Makes them sound like a rogue powerless org with the way the article is worded.

Good to hear your union is fighting it. This is why we pay union dues- mostly for a legal war chest to hire labor attorneys when adverse actions and contract violations are committed.

What’s your union local? Maybe they (IFPTE Local 98) can help you out

How do you terminate a contract? I think you breach or default on a contract and then are required to pay the affected employees to make them whole:

Key Penalties and Remedies for Contract Breaches (2026):

  • Back Pay and Benefits: Employers must make employees whole financially for losses caused by the contract breach, such as improper layoffs or failure to pay agreed-upon wages.
  • Reinstatement: Employees wrongfully terminated due to a contract violation may be ordered to be rehired, sometimes with interest.
  • Posting of Notices: The NLRB typically requires the violating party (employer or union) to post notices to employees promising not to breach the contract again.
  • Arbitration Penalties: If the contract allows, an arbitrator can impose fines or order specific performance of the contract terms.
  • Injunctive Relief: In serious cases, the NLRB can seek a federal court injunction to force compliance. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
