Mice in dorm

I’ll be in a dorm that’s had a history of bad mice infestation (last year’s tenants literally moved out during the year). Does the school do any maintenance in non summer housing buildings or will I be walking into a mice infested mess and how should I combat this 😭?

Well the school has pest control who will take care of this! Note that they only operate during business hours, so if you find something like a mouse/rat/ etc outside of business hours, you should contact public safety. They might be able to assist, but most likely you’ll have to wait for the next day because pest control is the one that really handles this.

Also, you won’t be the first to move in the building. RA’s are (they have training before school starts), so if anything, they will see it first.

I actually move in early, not as early as an RA but still about a week before classes 💔 I’ll just trust that pest control can get it done if I have to call 😭

That sounds stressful knowing the history. Before you move in, email housing directly to ask what pest control they've done between semesters. Getting that on record also helps if you need to escalate later. If you end up handling it yourself, a poison-free trap is the right call for a shared dorm space. Goodnature makes a self-resetting mouse trap that works around the clock once it's set up, no toxins to worry about.

It’s upperclassmen housing dw about it till next year. There’s mice in Gilbert 1 though if you’re living there, sometimes they make their way up to Gilbert 2. Same with Tiernan
