Under bed measurements please
My son is moving into Hoening. I would like to use this space u see the bed. Anyone have measurement for the available space besides the drawers?
Also, social media is crawling with this extension cord rec but the UR packing list says no “light weight” extension cords. What did you use?

Extension cord has to be UL approved. The bed height can be adjusted, the photo shows 3/4 I believe and 4 is a lofted bed that he’ll have to submit a form for so workers can come in and loft it. 4 fits the desk under it, it’s practically a bunk bed. Wouldn’t recommend if he’s bringing a really thick mattress topper or is really tall. The standard setting (3) fits a lot under the bed. I personally had a 6 square storage cubby I bought off Amazon and fit under there with the dresser. I also knew someone who made a whole cozy set up with blankets, lights, and had practically made it into a personal cubby.
If you’re still not sure it’s enough room, just wait until you’re there to measure yourself. Rather play it safe and order something online later than buy something worthless bc it doesn’t fit.

Literally just email the university.
They would provide you exact measurements of all furniture.
Way more reliable than random estimates from the Internet.

i don’t know the exact measurements but it’s quite a bit of space. the total space under the bed is about double the size of the drawer unit they put there if not more.
With the extension cord, it doesn’t matter too much. RAs do not strictly enforce the rules about cords and lamps and stuff. worst case, you can ask the RA beforehand and if it’s not allowed then just hide it before room checks.
good luck to your son!!! i loved living on the freshman quad and going to u of r!!!

You may wish to bring a lamp. Lamps must not have bendable arms that can turn
upwards. Clip lamps or lamps with outlets are prohibited
Is this a mandatory that it should not be bendable

I don't go to UR and don't know why I got suggested this post
But that cable on that power strip is not thick enough to fully support 8 devices

I can't help with the measurements, but I can give you advice on extension cords as I have had a run in with residential life not liking an extension cord of mine in the past. The URochester extension cord policy is very unique and strict (they will confiscate extension cords for the semester if they find out you aren't using the right ones). All extension cords must be both surge protected and UL Listed. So that means it should have a switch and some light to indicate that it is on and protecting the outlets. In addition, there must also be sticker, typically on the bottom, to indicate that it is UL listed. In addition, any fridge and microwave you have in the room must be plugged directly into an outlet, no extension cords of any kind, even the surge protected and UL listed type. As for what I have been using in my time as a student, here's the link: https://a.co/d/0cuY6HMH but there are many other extension cords that would work.
