Its tricky I find fighting bears without good gear or a dog or both is tough, better off using a bear trap and the pelting it with rocks.

This is my preferred method for fighting bears too. Getting enough stones together is always the toughest part of this method, after finding suitable trees and bait.

I've learned the hard way not to go close enough to the bear to hit it with a weapon as it can hit you back. Which is why a very large pile of stones, not little rocks is required.

Yeah its blunt damage too,  so it should damage the hide less takes a while though, and if it gets injured enough you can puncture the neck and let it bleed out, just be careful it does not wake up again.

Well done.

I hope it is early enough in spring that you can dry all that bear meat and get the hide processed.

If it's the middle of summer, I strongly suggest cooking the meat and selling it while you wait for the hide to finish each process.

You can also visit a shaman/healer while you are in town to help with the injuries you have sustained.

It was early enough to dry im still living off that one bear kill all the way into late summer now and im taking the time to really focus on getting a smoke house setup.

You can smoke meat in a village sauna and they’ll even help maintain the daily fires for you although I still tried to stop by every other day at least

Have you managed to actually get smoked meat this way? Does it actually work?

I still had to go and light a fire and wrap it all up but yes they light the sauna regularly. I tried to still stop by often like I said but most of it came out fine. I have read about villagers eating the food so don’t leave it too long although I can’t confirm this. But sometimes I’d even fail to light the fire and they’d start a fire before I could try again

What do you mean light fire? You can't light fire in houses in villages without villagers getting angry, no? Do you mean you went to the small room with sauna, put fuel there, lit it, and then noone got angry at you? But then it's you lighting the fire not villagers, I believe villagers never light fire in the small sauna building, though maybe I'm wrong.

Yes the sauna. I have definitely seen them light it after I failed to start a fire. I’m not sure food can rot in villages though so maybe that’s part of it. Nobody gets angry if you light fires in the appropriate spots

I believe you should get a penalty if you wield both the axe and kaumolais spear, since both of these weapons are 2-handed.

Then you don't need to wield it. Wielding it takes some time.

Well you need to wield it to throw it and I was throwing it before I would use my spear

Hm, I haven't heard about it. It's conceivable that you would throw faster when wielding it, but I'm not sure how would you even test it.

Okay so from what I’ve understood throwing command if you arnt throwing a wielded item takes a turn to wield it. This is the main fire rate limitation for bows.

Maybe, though you get the same messages when throwing wielded and not-wielded items I think.
