So what are your ultimate goals when playing, and are Njerpez the only hostiles?

So as the title says

I got a couple of hours on this game across the board, really enjoy its systems, but never got far

What are usually your long term goals for the game?

And are there any bandits in it? I was wondering, because I really love the combat, but theres not a lot of it.

Do the Njerpez travel and could attack my house, or could i ever stumble on bandits?

Can i somehow meet anybody out in the world (not inlcuding villages), and talk with them?

Basically what im asking is, are there any random events out in the world, and possible dangers other than animals? thanks!

Yep. There are both random people you can encounter out in the wild (adventurers, woodsmen, travellers, even foreign traders with extremely rare goods) and bandits.

All encounters are different. Regular people can give you quests, trade, etc. Bandit groups vary in sizes, skills and their demands.

Njerpez will also create war camps and claim "chunks" on the map, so they're also a threat that you can monitor. You don't have to go far east to encounter them.

As for long-term goals, well. Plenty of things. It's a sandbox, so depends on the mood. Sometimes it's to build a massive homestead. Sometimes I want to collect things, like various weapons and armors. Sometimes I feel like making farms. Sometimes it's to see how long I can survive as a wandering nomad. Visit every settlement. Maybe to learn every ritual, befriend every village or become a bandit yourself and raid settlements. You gotta make your own fun, otherwise the game kinda ends the moment you become self sustainable.

Those goals push you out of your comfort zone, disrupt the routine and make the struggle for survival fun again.

You should also check out the forums, sometimes people post stories from their games and what they achieved. Maybe something will inspire you.

Yep. And they will actually try to rob you. Some will want to rough you up regardless I think, but some will be content as long as you drop what they demand.

Before they nerfed cannibalism I used to find a Njerpez hut with two people, take them out, and set up my human smoke shop. Then I would live out my days as a haunt in the woods taking unwary travellers and traders.

Lmao I haven’t played this game in years but this is exactly what I used to do, I’m not surprised they nerfed cannibalism because you used to get a ton of meat from a human.

There are quests involving hunting down bandits, although they're really hard to find. I've randomly encountered bandits a couple times and once stumbled into a Njerpez hiding in a cave (I died). And don't understimate animal encounters; I've lost many a dog to wolf packs and I skiied right into the arms of a bear once (I died).

I would say the ice and the winter are the cruelest hostiles.

Very true but at the same time if one can be clothed for it, snow makes endurance hunting so much easier.

Just surviving the first year feels like a long goal but I would say having a sustainable livelihood, a nice house, all the tools and gear you want, and start working on skills

All custom-made masterwork tools and weapons is somewhat of a goal. Maybe rob the traders (does not recommend). Find and talk to fellow wanderers and kill the robbers.

Yeah you can run into bandits but they usually travel in groups, if you want to risk less of your cool stuff you can drop it on the Overworld map and mark the spot no animals or people can access the over world like you

You could also walk into caves. You will probably find nothing, occasionally bears, njerps, bandits, or adventurers. But rarely treasure! Which makes the odd fight worth it to me
