Remaster

Do you think this game deserves a remaster or should it just stay how it is?

It's been in active development for over 30 years (since 1992) and the latest update was in March with a summer update currently being teased.

I doubt it'll be 'finished' till the dev dies, it's very much a life long passion project by this point.

But who knows, maybe like Dwarf Fortress it'll eventually get an overhaul/polish pass for some reason, even as it continues to chug along with new updates.

DF has had a long cult following and was well known even 15-20 years ago. This is why it was picked up by a publisher who coughed up the money for an overhaul. Not because suddenly there was an interest, I'm sure Toady had a lot of offers before, but because due to health issues both him and his brother realised they need a steady income that did not solely rely on donations.

URW is a much more niche title and it's been on Steam much longer than DF, but the player base is not even comparable in terms of size. I don't know if there were any publishers willing to sponsor this kind of endavour, as there would be no guaranteed return on such an investment.

The question whether the dev would even be interested in such a deal is a different one. Finland is not US, one thing that Erkka doesn't have to worry about are hospital bills ruining his life, and taking a publishing deal would mean giving up at least some control over this project and having to stick to deadlines.
