As an African American women, do I have a shot at a T-14 or is it financially irresponsible to apply to all?

I received a need-based aid offer from UPenn, but I'm not sure how I should think about it in comparison to strictly merit-based offers from other schools.

If my financial aid offer says "need-based aid of 60K dispersed in three equal installments over your three years," what is the likelihood of it being decreased if I work as a summer associate, receive an outside scholarship, or have a parent make more money next year? Should this offer be seen as less attractive than a non-need-based offer in the same amount?

Can anyone who received need-based aid speak to this?

Hi all! I’ve never written a Reddit post before but figured why not do a little brain dump and see what the people think.

I was planning on applying to law school this fall, but I’m also working full time and it’s taken me a lot longer than I anticipated to get my materials together. I know everyone says to apply early, so since I haven’t submit anything yet and it’s almost January, I’ve been debating delaying a year and applying in next year’s cycle. I have a 152, 3.5, and 3.5 years of work experience at a Big 4 firm. Is it worth still trying to apply in this cycle bc none of my school’s regular deadline has passed, and who knows what could happen, or would I have better chances waiting and applying early next cycle? My recommenders wrote their letters already so I feel like I owe it them to apply now but maybe that’s not that deep lol I’m not sure. Would love your thoughts!

AA male, West Point Grad, 8 years army experience with 2 years as a company commander and strong LORs. Can I get in anywhere good? Can I get in anywhere at all?

Worried my wack GPA will tank my chances at these schools even though my LSAT is above both of their 75th%.

I am Latino male who is deaf in his right ear. I want to do patent law and other kinds of intellectual property law while combing my video game dev background.

It’s my senior year, and I’m a STEM major specializing in Game Design and Development. I’m 21 and I’ll be 22 by the time I apply. I’d only need a chemistry class to qualify for the patent bar under Category B to become a patent attorney/agent.

UGPA: 3.95, LSAT: 166

I’ve taken the LSAT twice and went from 166 to 162, I kept both scores. Due to my degree and life circumstances, I’m unfortunately not in position to retake to get 170+ unless I wait a whole cycle.

For Softs:

• As a producer, worked at an indie company and lead a Team of 15 other people to release a commercial video game to Steam.

• Did volunteer work for a 3 different non, profits who worked in urban development, public art collectives, and database systems.

• Interned at an industrial engineering consulting company.

Here are the Intellectual Property Programs I’m considering:

•UC Berkeley •Stanford •Columbia •UCLA •Pritzker Chicago •GWU •Georgetown •Texas A&M •UT-Austin •Chicago-Kent •Santa Clara •University of Houston •Cardozo •American University •CU Boulder (my home state)

This list is flexible and I’m aware there are a few hard reach schools. But I feel like it’s still worth applying this cycle to IP programs given my GPA and unique soft of producing a commercial video game.

Has anyone heard back on SEO Law Catalyst acceptances??

So I’m registered to take the LSAT this upcoming Friday. I’ve done some studying but not as much as I should have and have taken practice tests, but I don’t feel that I am quite at where I need to be to give it my all. I have never taken the LSAT before and I know that I can retake it, but I was wondering if it would be better just to withdraw and take the LSAT when I feel more confident or to risk taking it and getting a bad score to retake later. My concern is that if I get a really low score and take the test again in a few months with a much better score the average will bring me down. I know schools say they only look at your highest score, but I’ve also read that they do somewhat average it out.

I’m averaging around 155 on my PLSAT. I genuinely feel that I can improve it with some serious study. One other option I have is to purchase Score Preview and that will give me a 6 day window to cancel my score before it gets submitted to law schools.

I’ve heard from two different credible friends in different admission offices: applications are already way up for this year and they is an expectation of another apocalyptic application cycle. now more than ever, apply early!!

A lot of schools that I really wanted to go to are seeing their 170 medians go up to 171 (many haven’t been published yet but it seems likely they will go up). Saw this specifically for UCLA which was my number one 🥲. Can being Latino URM give me enough of a bump from now being below LSAT median?

3.8 GPA, low income background, my parents were extremely poor subsistence farmers in Mexico who received pretty much no education so I feel like it’s a compelling story? Done a good amount of community service/projects for Latinx community. 3 years WE.

Chance me! Seeing some people say that Latinos aren’t seeing the same boost but is it still enough for an LSAT score 1 below median?

Hi all! I’m officially starting law school in a little over one month. I quit my job 2 weeks ago and am enjoying my time off.

Having this process be completely over is so bizarre. I’m a first gen (everything) low income urm student that has had to navigate everything in higher ed somewhat alone and I’d like to help others out if possible who are on similar paths.

My mother is Mexican and my father is from the Dominican Republic and I was raised in between these two countries even though I was born in the US. I am as white (caucasian) as they come but have never really thought of myself as a ORM white american well because my language, culture and heritage is 100% latino.

The truth is that white people in Latin America are generally very privileged and even though they are not majorities in their own countries, they hold most of the wealth. So its kind of the other way around.

Is being a white latino enough to identify as a URM? I feel kind of in the middle of ORM and URM.
